While it has been some time since we have had any serious tornadic
activity in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area (praise be to God!) it is
always a possibility. I used to go out to be a local spotter for our
amateur radio SkyWarn nets. There are plenty of volunteers for this now
so I leave it to others while I just listen along on the 2 meter ham
radio repeaters, and give local weather observations. The chase is for
the more adventurous.
Here is a video of a tornado that is well defined. Notice all the
highway traffic moving along as if this is a normal occurance. Also
notice that this particilar tornado seems to be stationary. Weird!
The 2007 Elie, Manitoba F5 tornado (a civilized canuck tornado, it seems
to stay in one place instead of travlling, dropping down to tear hell
out of one location, then go away!)

According to NewsMax a McCain aid was fired for promoting this video.
Sounds like he was a Limbaugh fan because words do mean things.
Obama has been a LONG time member of Pastor Wright's Black African UCC
church. Obama has said that his pulpit language gets a little rough,
then claims to have never been present for any of the incendiary sermons
that have come to light. Yup... sure, you betcha, we believe you Barry.
Here is the video that got the McCain aid canned...
Seems pretty clear to me... What's your problem John? Did you at least
offer him a safety net job at your Soros/Heinz-Kerry funded Reform
Institute? Do you agree with Rev. Wright??? You know that the other side
would NEVER fire anyone who had said or made a movie against you like
this.
The tv network bigwigs are deciding who will continue to compete and the
season has only had one primary for the party faithfull to make any
decisions.
Our media overlords have decreed that only the top three of both parties
will be allowed to speak on the television in New Hampshire.
Currently these media overlords are comprized of ABC and FOX but
probably includes NBC and CBS along with CNN. Time for talk radio to
make inroads and allow candidates to speak to the people bypassing the
television main stream.
CMU Dean Pamela Gates practices her right jab on a student who filed a
FOIA form for information on a professor (Gary Peters, former official
with the Michigan lottery) who is running for political office in
violation of the law. (It prohibits public employees from running for an
elected position while on the public payroll.)
A charge of assault and battery was filed against the pugilist/Dean.
Here is the video of the incident. The university says it is
investigating but expect them to close ranks. The American Communist
Liberties Union would be all over this if it
wasn't against one of their own political allies.
Here is the URL to cut and paste if you can not view the video above

I rarely go to the theater to see a movie anymore... Reason: The smell
of buttered movie house popcorn drives me nuts! I love it and cant have
it. Trouble with diverticula in the intestines. Brings on a condition
called diverticulitis, evey bit as bad as apendicitis if either is left
untreated.
So, I wait for movies to come out on DVD and usually wait a little
longer...
Casino Royale
Last year I had some reservations about Daniel Craig being the NEW James
Bond. I am watching the movie as I type this and I withdraw ALL
objections.
Since Sean Connery there have been a several that were OK. I was stuck
in that Bond paradigm. Daniel Craig was outside it. He didn't have the
smoothe polished look of the others. Since Connery, the rest have looked
like puny lightweights. Daniel Craig is muscular and looks intimidating.
Sean Connery was the original, and the new Bond is GREAT! Daniel Craig
makes a wonderful Bond. He is a harder, edgier, less refined character
than Sean Connery portrayed but I find that I like this rendition!.He is
a Bond that doesn't win at the card table every time as Sean Connery
did... Daniel acts more human, and makes a mistake occasionally but is
just right in the role. I would like to see a few more Bond movies with
Mr Craig starring.
I am a little depressed... My mother is dieing of pancreatic cancer.
I just found out that Luciano Pavarotti just passed away from that form
of cancer too. I knew he was ill but didn't know what the circumstances
were until the announcement of his passing. I have been listening to Doc
Savage playing Luciano tonight and decided to carry on here, plus add in
a real amateur that won a competition in England, Paul Potts. Hear his
version of the same song by Luciano, Nessun Dorma.
[ps: My mother is dieing of pancreatic cancer. Doctors say 1 to 6
months. I am going to be talking to her about having the Pavarotti
version of Ave Maria at her funeral as she really loves that song. NO
ONE does it like Luciano!]
Luciano Pavarotti - Ave Maria - Schubert
Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma
Paul Potts - Winner of Britains Got Talent - Nessun Dorma
With a bit of training... is this the next Pavarotti?
All these are online on YouTube.com While online, it is worthwhile to
look up the Three Tenors singing together too.
A friend sent me this in email. Obviously they intended to add this to
an Al Jazeera broadcast because the terrorist feeding the tube had
concealed his face.
It is short and sweet.
YES!!! We need to supply them with defective mortar rounds like that one. Then
those attacks can be filed under "Problem Solved".
Hell got its latest recruit sent special delivery.
Cable service, digital telephones, and power outages
We just had a severe thunderstorm roll through the county. First we lost
the cable television signal and cable modem, then the power went out. I
do not have digital phone service with Comcast and am glad of it now.
The phone would have been out with the cable. I picked up my wireline
phone and called my wife at her work place to see if the power was out
across the river. She said it waa back on over there and shortly our
power came back too.
My point... dont pile your eggs in one basket.
Power outages do NOT affect the phone company and phone lines in their
local areas.. The phone company has its own generators and supplies the
talk voltage out on the cable pairs.
I am keeping my wireline telephone (and my cell phone). Another point...
my phone line has DSL and that stayed on too. I had a small 150 watt
power inverter and battery on the broadband modems (cable and dsl). DSL
never lost signal. The cable modem did. Hmmm.....
If the cable television goes out the digital telephone goes with it
To COMCAST: Concerning phone service, NO THANK YOU!
I do think that your broadband ROCKS when the power is on. DSL may be
slower but it stayed on while the cable modem lost signal. I had my
laptop online and switched from the cable modem to the dsl. Ahhh... I am
a broadband addict. I do need to get a UPS for each of my desktop
machines and my router though. My little homemade system with the car
battery and the power inverter doesnt have the capacity for the desk top
machines.
[update: The power went off again later in the night, well after
midnight. I was already in bed and only noticed it because the fan in my
bedroon stopped for a while. I didnt bother to get up an reboot the
computers until this morning. Some of them will actually recover on
their own, but a few are passworded locally so I have to actually be at
the keyboard to bring them back online. My FTP server (currently on my
dsl line) rebooted and came back up just fine.]
Check out the voice on this singer - AWESOME! Truly Awesome!
This guys voice will blow you away... His name is Paul Potts and he
sounds like another of the great tenors.
You have seen how Simon Cowell normally reacts. This is classic as he
goes through various stages of disbelief at what he is hearing. He is
actually smiling and applauding at the end. The guy gets a standing O.
I would love to hear him do "Ave Maria" like Pavarotti did.
...and here is a talent to keep your eye on. She is only 6 years of age
now. She has a FANTASTIC voice and everyone there agreed. Her name is
Connie Talbot.
Fightin Words - Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, and more
Here is my Memorial Day Tribute, a collection of videos. Enjoy!
You can go here
to get the link to post this first video on your site.
I found the first one over at Black
Five while roaming the net. This is definitely a tribute to the
warriors who keep us free and a slapdown of the wimps in congress that
are cowards!
WARNING: There is some strong language at the end... if you are easily
offended, you came to the wrong place. If you want to get uppity about
it, the government may protect your free speech out there, but get in my
face and I will have to exercise my right to give you an ass whoopin!
I always enjoy going to a Lee Greenwood concert. He reserves the last
spot for this song and it is an emotional high seeing how the crowd
reacts to it.
A video that you should see, a soldier home from overseas
Here is a video I received in email that I am passing along here. As a
Vietnam vet and father it touched me when I watched it and I hope you
like it too.
IMPORTANT - An immigration presentation from Roy Beck - Numbers USA
This presentation should be required viewing for every citizen. Thne no
one could claim ignorance of the consequences of unrestricted
immigration.
Watch this video and see why we MUST get a handle on immigration to the
USA. You will also see how our current crop of politicians are selling
us, our children, their children, and their children's children out. Our
country can not sustain the immigration increases that the politicians
want to inflict on us. Here is the video...
When American Idol started (actually it started overseas but who really
cares?) here in the USA, it took me a year to notice it. Then I became a
rabid follower for a couple years. Now I am in the ho-hum stage and
couldn't tell you who was on the show, who got voted off, etc.
I just found a site that promises to put some life back into the whole
thing.
I just found a web service I am thinking of joining.
Elite TV Downloads... they say that they supply all tv shows and current
dvd movies. It is a subscription service so I am checking them out
before digging out the credit card but what I see so far looks good.
I wonder what form the movies and tv shows come in? DO I use the Windows
media player utility or one that they supply?
note: A WHOIS lookup shows the domain elitetvdownloads.com
operating from a server in Vancouver, BC, Canada, name registration via
GoDaddy.com and name shielded rgistration by domainsbyproxy.com. Any
time a business hides behind something like this, I get a little
suspicious. I think I will pass on this at this time.
It is more of Algore's hot air and bull$#!+ than actual global warming.
If there is such a thing, give me a good dose of global warming right
now. We have had temps at or near zero degrees for more than a week now.
Algore's "An Inconvenient Truth" is more of a very convenient socialist
BIG LIE.
Here are some scientists that agree that Algore is full of bull...
Thanks to the Canada Free Press, the independent thinkers in the
scientific community have a place to offer their version of the “truth”
about global warming and other related topics. Be sure to check it out.
Here are some comments from Canada
Free Press about the “science” of An Inconvenient
Truth made by scientists and experts that seem to debunk some of
Gore’s statements.
Dr. Chris de Freitas, climate scientist, associate professor,
University of Auckland, New Zealand: ”I can assure Mr. Gore that no
one from the South Pacific islands have fled to New Zealand because of
rising seas. In fact, if Gore consults the data, he will see it shows
sea level falling in some parts of the Pacific.”
Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner, emeritus professor of paleogeophysics &
geodynamics, Stockholm University, Sweden: “We find no alarming sea
level rise going on, in the Maldives, Tovalu, Venice, the Persian Gulf
and even satellite altimetry if applied properly.”
Dr. Paul Reiter, Professor - Institut Pasteur, Unit of Insects and
Infectious Diseases, Paris, France, comments on Gore’s belief that
Nairobi and Harare were founded just above the mosquito line to avoid
malaria and how the mosquitoes are now moving to higher altitudes: “Gore
is completely wrong here - malaria has been documented at an altitude
2500 m - Nairobi and Harare are at altitudes of about 1500 m. The new
altitudes of malaria are lower than those recorded 100 years ago. None
of the “30 so called new diseases” Gore references are attributable to
global warming, none.”
Dr. Mitchell Taylor, Manager, Wildlife Research Section, Department
of Environment, Igloolik, Nunavut, Canada: “Our information is that
7 of 13 populations of polar bears in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago
(more than half the world’s estimated total) are either stable, or
increasing …. Of the three that appear to be declining, only one has
been shown to be affected by climate change. No one can say with
certainty that climate change has not affected these other populations,
but it is also true that we have no information to suggest that it has.”
Dr. Petr Chylek, adjunct professor, Dept. of Physics and Atmospheric
Science, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada: “Mr.
Gore suggests that Greenland melt area increased considerably between
1992 and 2005. But 1992 was exceptionally cold in Greenland and the melt
area of ice sheet was exceptionally low due to the cooling caused by
volcanic dust emitted from Mt. Pinatubo. If, instead of 1992, Gore had
chosen for comparison the year 1991, one in which the melt area was 1%
higher than in 2005, he would have to conclude that the ice sheet melt
area is shrinking and that perhaps a new ice age is just around the
corner.”
Dr. Gary D. Sharp, Center for Climate/Ocean Resources Study,
Salinas, California: “The oceans are now heading into one of their
periodic phases of cooling. … Modest changes in temperature are not
about to wipe them [coral] out. Neither will increased carbon dioxide,
which is a fundamental chemical building block that allows coral reefs
to exist at all.”
Dr. R. M. Carter, professor, Marine Geophysical Laboratory, James
Cook University, Townsville, Australia: “Both the Antarctic and
Greenland ice caps are thickening. The temperature at the South Pole has
declined by more than 1 degree C since 1950. And the area of sea-ice
around the continent has increased over the last 20 years.”
Dr./Cdr. M. R. Morgan, FRMS, formerly advisor to the World
Meteorological Organization, climatology research scientist at
University of Exeter, U.K.: “From data published by the Canadian Ice
Service there has been no precipitous drop off in the amount or
thickness of the ice cap since 1970 when reliable over-all coverage
became available for the Canadian Arctic.”
Rob Scagel, M.Sc., forest microclimate specialist, Pacific
Phytometric Consultants, Surrey, British Colombia, Canada comments
on Gore’s belief that the Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) is an “invasive
exotic species” that has become a plague due to fewer days of frost:
“The MPB is a species native to this part of North America and is always
present. The MPB epidemic started as comparatively small outbreaks and
through forest management inaction got completely out of hand.”
With a weapon system like this against them, the enemy must have a very
high pucker factor. The targeting is done with infrared and you can see
them moving around on the ground until.... BOOOOOOM!
Here is a link to an AC-130U video on Youtube... AC-130U
This would be a dandy border patrol vehicle! It would make the illegals
start crossing in daylight when they could be spotted easier. It might
make the Mexican Army and the coyotes think twice about crossing over
and supporting illegals. Our law enforcement officials have already had
run ins with the Mexican army.
Okay, if you want to see Saddam Hussein hung without the media
censorship, here is a new video of his execution. The quality of the
video isn’t that great but it gives you a better sense of being there.
If it bothers you, obviously don’t watch.
It actually isn’t THAT graphic, which leaves the main stream media
censors with some explaining to do. It appears to be a cellphone video
and is very shakey and unsteady.
However, one thing is certain. This brutal dictator who started three
wars and is responsible for the graves of two million people will soon
be in the ground himself. And if the act brings even just a little
more legitimacy to the Iraqi government in the eyes of their people,
perhaps good has come of it.
I AM posting the video because it is a newsworthy event, capping the
life of one of the brutal tyrants of the past century. And I don’t
like other people censoring and editing what others may want to watch.

Freddy Fender, the "Bebop Kid" of the Texas-Mexico border who later
turned his twangy tenor into the smash country ballad "Before the Next
Teardrop Falls," died Saturday. He was 69.
Fender, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2006, died at noon
at his Corpus Christi home with his family at his bedside, said Ron
Rogers, a family spokesman.
His career really began in the late '50s, when he returned from serving
in the Marines.
In February 1999, Fender was awarded a star in the Hollywood Walk of
Fame after then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush wrote to the Hollywood Chamber
of Commerce endorsing him.
Fender will be brought back to San Benito for a funeral and memorial
services. Details on the arrangements were pending.

Croc Hunter, Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television
personality and conservationist, was killed Monday by a stingray while
filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.
"He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into
his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Stainton, who was on
board Irwin's boat at the time.
Stingrays have a serrated, toxin-loaded barb, or spine, on the top of
their tail. The barb, which can be up to 10 inches long, flexes if a ray
is frightened. Stings usually occur to people when they step on or swim
too close to a ray and can be excruciatingly painful but are rarely
fatal, said University of Queensland marine neuroscientist Shaun Collin.
