Affirmative action fighter Jennifer Gratz, a key figure in the passage of a proposal that banned the use of race and gender in consideration of applicants to state universities, on Monday endorsed the gubernatorial candidacy of Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox.

Gratz said the state's top law enforcement official had the "political courage" to support the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative long before voters approved it in 2006 while other Republicans opposed the divisive measure.

Stabenow will vote for socialist health care takeover

No reply has been received from Karl (Marx) Levin as we all know where he is on the socialist political spectrum and how he will vote as a politburo member.

Here is the email letter I received today from Debbie Stabenow. She is safe for the 2010 midterm election and intends to push for socialized health care (Obamacare) no matter what it does to her constituents. She is voting for health care for illegal aliens in Michigan, not the senior citizens who will be shunted aside. She is a true yellow dog. She is voting for tax increases for all of us to cover the illegals. She understands my concerns but doesn't care. A Democrat is a Democrat and will vote Democrat regardless of how far the party shifts to the left, especially from an insulated seat in the senate. [ed: She was just reelected so she is safe this time.] The Democrats that are heavily perspiring over their jobs are all in the House.

When it comes to health care, our families and businesses are in a serious crisis. High health care costs are causing cuts in benefits and increases in premiums, adding to the ranks of the uninsured at alarming rates. But the impact of this problem goes beyond individual families. Skyrocketing health care costs make our businesses less competitive in the global marketplace and cost us good-paying jobs. We are already paying for the uninsured through overuse of the emergency room-the most inefficient and expensive way of providing care.

I believe that health care is a right, not a privilege. There is no doubt that the problems we face are complex, but there are real solutions. Now that Barack Obama has gotten GM Chairman Rick Wagoner out of the way, he is confident that GM is on the way to unimaginable success. The government has given GM and Chrysler $65.1 billion in bailout money, which is only appropriate.

I mean, "millions" is so 90's...

To promote the sales of GM vehicles, Obama says it will be the government that will now stand by your GM car warranty. And the taxpayers all get a lube job. Your future GM owner's manual will come with a disclaimer: "Close enough for government work."

I don't know why everyone is so upset about the government taking over a major American car company. They've done a great job with social security. I mean, haven't they? Taking over GM and Chrysler is American as baseball, apple pie and Mussolini.

But the Manchurian Teleprompter IS "UPBEAT ABOUT GM'S FUTURE" as a recent New York Times headline declared.

As soon as I read the headline, I rushed to the financial pages. There I learned GM had just been kicked off the Dow Jones Industrial Index. Yikes! Picture the New York Yankees playing so badly they were demoted to Little League status.

That doesn't sound so good. Also, I discovered GM's share price was listed as N/A. Not applicable. Sounds to me like -- "price so low it can't be measured."

Ah, but the Times says Team Obama has a plan. GM's new chairman, Barack Obama, has demanded that GM focus on more green technology. Another nice feature is that instead of an airbag, your GM car will come with a Joe Biden. Thank you, and drive safely...

So the plan is: The "New GM" is going to persuade presumably sane Americans that a bankrupt Detroit automaker run by union hacks and government bureaucrats will make little, dinky, green cars better and cheaper than Toyota, Nissan, and KIA already make little, dinky, green cars.

Believe that?

The story comes via email and is a heartbreaker, brought on by the slavish devotion of the unions to the socialist Democrat goals. It puts on display how union leadership goals are not in sync with hopes and desires of the rank and file. Union members are told to follow the lead of the union bosses, to march in lockstep.

Debra Turner started working at GM in the late '70s, when she was 19.  Eleven years ago, Debra was diagnosed with MS.  Since then, she's had to stop working, and soon her husband is going to retire from GM. Together they've given the company many years of hard work.

But now Debra's good health benefits are at risk thanks to GM's bailout deal with the government. The U.S. Treasury has decided that it isn't "commercially necessary" for GM to honor its contractual benefits for more than 50,000 retirees and their dependents.

Send a letter to the White House to tell the Treasury that they cannot sacrifice the health care benefits of 50,000 GM retirees:

We can't sit back and let GM abandon the people who dedicated their lives to building the company.  The government and GM are putting Debra in an impossible position. As Debra said,

Debra -- and thousands more retirees like her -- spent their lives working for GM expecting that their health care would be taken care of once they retired. Now they're being cast aside because of the irresponsible management by the people at the top.

50,000 GM retirees, the NEW owners of GM are now being told that their contracted health bennies are worth less than recycled toilet paper.

The government, with the aid and collusion of the unions, is breaking and bankrupting industry in the USA as an excuse to nationalize it. General Motors, the largest car company, now bows down and kisses the feet of Obama. GMs new owners, UAW (the union has been granted part ownership in the company), kiss a bit higher. Obama is the senior CEO with final veto power on board actions. The biggest mistake of the car companies was to expect the same level of bailout and star treatment from the socialist Democrats that was given to the financial sector. For that they would need a car czar that is a creepy tax cheating scumbag like Geithner. Obama decided otherwise and forced GM to bail out through bankruptcy to drop contractual obligations, including to the very unions whose lips have an unbreakable seal to the ass cheeks of Obama. The leadership is trying to deflect fault from the Obama/Super CEO, which is rather difficult with all that has happened in just 6 months. Obama has ordered everything else, and the only others to blame now are the union stakeholders. It is not like they have had a year to cloud and twist memories of past acts. The acts are not far enough in the past for the Obama propaganda media to fool anyone.

The Truth About the Censored Ad

A television station in Roanoke, Virginia that declined to run a National Republican Congressional Committee ad against Congressman Tom Perriello's (D-VA) vote in favor of the climate change bill is now letting the ad run after being only slightly modified.

And in so doing, it is putting the lie to a deceptive smear campaign organized by the Democrat Party and promoted by a now-discredited liberal "fact check" front group.

The now-famous ad began with a quote from Barack Obama's interview with the San Francisco Chronicle of January 2008 when he said, "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket [emphasis added]."

How badly would the bill hurt the economy? The ad says, "It [the bill] will destroy jobs and cost middle class families $1800 a year, every time you turn on a switch."

That claim was in turn challenged by FactCheck.org—run by the liberal Annenberg Foundation's Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. As expected, the group then issued a declaration claiming the "NRCC ad credits a Washington Times editorial for its claim that the Waxman-Markey bill would make electricity prices 'skyrocket,' costing families $1,870 a year. But the NRCC is wrong."

Leaving aside the fact that the Annenberg Foundation was Barack Obama's employer from 1995-99, the truth is, it's FactCheck.org that's dead wrong.

Why? Granted, "every time you turn on a switch" is hyperbolic, but the rest of it? FactCheck.org argues that the Times was actually citing a portion of a Heritage study stating the Gross Domestic Product losses in 2020. And, "a decrease in gross domestic product is a different calculation than an increase in electricity costs."

Never mind that the Heritage study in question defined GDP losses from the Waxman-Markey bill as "economic costs". And, never mind that the ad never claims that electricity bills will increase by $1800. Instead it notes that the bill will "cost middle class families $1800 a year…" How much legislation costs overall—i.e. its net impact upon the GDP—is a different calculation than how much it will increase electricity costs. As FactCheck.org undoubtedly well knew before it drug out its red herring.

A main reason why the GDP will be negatively affected by the cap-and-tax legislation is precisely because of increased energy costs. Which, as Barack Obama noted in 2008, "would necessarily skyrocket."

The total impact on the economy? Heritage's analysis stated, "In The Heritage Foundation's analysis of the Waxman-Markey climate change legislation, the GDP hit in 2020 was $161 billion (2009 dollars). For a family of four, that translates into $1,870." Truth be told, there was nothing dishonest or false about the ad. At all.

Not that this stopped the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee—and several news outlets carrying their script in lockstep—from saying that because the ad was found to be "wrong" by FactCheck.org, WDBJ-TV refused to run it. According to DCCC.org's press release, "WDBJ-TV, a Roanoke television station, refused to air a false National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) attack ad on Congressman Tom Perriello (VA-05)."

This is pure political spin brewed in the war room of the DCCC—and percolated at FactCheck.org. The message? That the NRCC ad was so blatantly "dishonest" that TV stations are refusing to run it.

In an exclusive interview with ALG News WDBJ General Manager Jeffrey Marks sought to set the record straight. He noted that the whole story began as a result of the DCCC release. And that release certainly did give the false impression that the station was taking some sort of stand against the NRCC's ad.

Marks acknowledged that the Congressman's office had complained to the station about the ad. And so, he said, "We wanted to address the complaints," adding that the station wanted to "make sure everyone is being treated fairly."

In this case, the station judged that there was "enough substance" to warrant bringing the complaint to the attention of the advertiser. And, according to Marks, the NRCC has addressed the issue, minutely modified the ad, and it was running as of yesterday. "This happens from time to time," he said.

But the real story here is that the Hard Left—the true villain of this sordid tale—is so desperate to hide the truth about this horrible, costly bill that they resort to distortion and censorship.

A pattern is emerging. First, as ALG News previously reported, Dr. Alan Carlin was publicly flogged and exiled for telling the truth at the EPA about "man-made" global warming. And now the Democrats are badgering stations to prevent the public from learning the truth about cap-and-trade.

And in the end, what have they really gained? A lot of attention to the fact that Barack Obama "necessarily" believes that electricity costs will "skyrocket," the fact that the GDP will be hurt drastically by the Waxman-Markey cap-and-tax bill, and the fact that Tom Perriello voted for it.

Sometimes it seems, truth will out.

The Public "Option"

Like all big lies, the public "option" deceives individuals not only through distortion, but also omission. And unless the American people are warned and stand up for the true health options they currently possess, Barack Obama and Congress will rapidly enact legislation that is designed to degrade and, eventually, destroy those choices that Americans today take for granted.

Through a sleight of hand, proponents of the public "option" act as if there are not already other public options already available when there are: Medicare, Medicaid, and other state and local services for the elderly, poor, and children.

This is the omission. [ed: the LIE by omission] It is designed to fool the American people that they do not already have enough "choices" in health care. That the government does not do enough already. Or that, somehow, there are not enough options currently available. Which, of course, is a lie.

The U.S. spends more on health care than any other nation. As of 2006, the Census Bureau estimates that some 201.7 million, or 71.5 percent of Americans with health insurance, get their insurance privately. 28.5 percent of those with insurance, or 80.3 million, get it from the government.

Presently, the average premium for single coverage is $4,700, according to the National Coalition on Health Care. All told, in 2007, the U.S. spent $2.4 trillion in total health care spending.

Not enough options? $2.4 trillion is just the beginning. The price tag for health care expenditures, NCHC projects, will rise to $3.1 trillion by 2012, and $4.3 trillion by 2016.

Advocates claim this will create competition between the public and private sectors- as if the private sector could compete with a "business" with an unlimited money supply that has no incentive to even operate in the black. This year alone it finds itself in a $1.8 trillion hole, before any public "option" has even been enacted.

Once passed, the federal government will cover what it can through revenue, and then just borrow and/or print the rest.

• Q: What will private health carriers do?

• A: Since they cannot charge lower rates and then borrow to make ends meet, they'll lose customers. And then have to jack up premiums ever further in order to stay solvent.

• Employers on the other hand will have lost the incentive to provide coverage to employees. To save costs, they'll pass the buck back to the taxpayers, who will now be guaranteed coverage through the public "option."

The greatest misrepresentation of all is that the public "option" will at all be optional. It will not be. Because it cannot be. It is designed to crowd out private options by guaranteeing coverage on a federal level—indeed, by mandating it.

President Obama seems optimistic: "When I say if you have your plan and you like it… or you have a doctor and you like your doctor, that you don't have to change plans, what I'm saying is the government is not going to make you change plans under health reform."

Of course, even if there is no sweeping mandate to use the public "option," the law of gravity still applies—the larger mass shall attract the smaller masses towards it. This is how monopolies are formed, whether state-run or not.

The big lie is that the American people will have any choice at all but to use the public "option," which will be the only option left.

AAADD - Know the symptoms

This was received in one of those multiple recipient emails, no author listed...

but it describes how I feel many days, so maybe this is what is wrong with me!

KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.

Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!! Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D.

Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

• the car isn't washed

• the bills aren't paid

• there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter

• the flowers don't have enough water,

• there is still only 1 check in my check book,

• I can't find the remote,

• I can't find my glasses,

and

• I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail....

Do me a favor.

Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.

What: Special "Tea Party" to honor Cong. Gresham Barrett (RINO Bailout supporter)

Where: Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center - 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, SC 29201

When: Saturday, May 16th 7;00 AM till 9:00 AM as the delegates are arriving

Why: Remind the delegates [and the state wide media that will be there] we don't want a [ed:pseudo-] "conservative" Congressman who voted FOR the Bailout, FOR millions of earmarks in the Obama approved budget, who took big money from PACs [for industries that benefited from the TARP Bailout!] serving as our next Governor. Republicans can do better and South Carolina deserves better.

How: This will be a light hearted fun event. We will have some hand made signs asking the Congressman questions. We will walk around, eat donuts, talk to arriving delegates, talk to the media (they will be there from all over the state, this is your chance to be on TV) and talk to the Congressman if he shows up. We will NOT block traffic, block people, or disrupt the convention in any manner. We are going to be polite, well behaved and have a ton of fun at the RINO's expense! How else: Feel free to bring home made signs. Dress patriotic, bring your flags, Bring your wife, kids, grandkids, after all, they will be paying taxes for the Barrett Bailout after you are dead. They may as well get to say hello to the Congressman who sold them out. Say what ever you want on your signs and to the media. This is a grassroots effort. It is YOUR party. I am not in charge, I am just bringing the do-nuts. Feel free to bring a cooler with water or soft drinks and dress appropriately, it may be hot. I will have signs for those who do not bring any.

Are You A Right Wing Extremist?

If you oppose the visible and sub-surface policies of the Obama adminstration efforts to convert the USA into a socialist/communist nation, then you are labeled as a right wing extremist and will come under the scrutiny of Fuhrer Obama's secret police. It matter naught what level of opposition you pose, as all will be treated as if you are a sheet wearing, cross burning KKK whacko. The examples from the previous Democrat administration; the seizure of Elian Gonzales by Clinton storm troopers to be returned to Cuba, the Ruby Ridge federal sniper incident, and the whitewash of the Waco, Texas incident are visible displays of power when a socialist is placed in high office in the USA. I am curious what will be the first raw display of this power by Obama and his secret police under the cover and auspices of DHS. Will the power grab be precipitated by a trumped up "crisis" and a declaration of FEMA emergency?

According to The Washington Times, DHS distributed this so-called security assessment, titled; "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" to police and sheriff departments across the country on April 7.

The Times quotes the security assessment and states that the federal government "'will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months' to gather information on 'rightwing extremist activity in the United States.'"

And here's the kicker.

The security assessment clearly defines "rightwing extremism" as "broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment..."

That sounds reasonable, until you continue reading the rest of the sentence: "... rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”

No... your eyes are not playing tricks on you.

If you object to Obama's policies, if you believe in the 10th Amendment, or support the strict enforcement of our immigration laws... if you are pro-life... if you're one of those pesky Americans that attended a TEA party on April 15... or if you're reading this e-mail; you're no different than a Klansman or a member of the Aryan Nation or a Neo-Nazi.

But this security assessment doesn't stop there. It goes on to directly targets those who simply oppose Barack Hussein Obama's policies:

“Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use.”

Strangely, the security assessment clearly states that DHS “has no specific information that domestic right wing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence.”

And yet, with no knowledge of threats, and virtually no evidence, it makes grandiose claims and slanders those who are pro- life, against illegal immigration, support the right to bear arms, oppose an ever increasing federal government, and are in favor of American sovereignty.

What's the bottom line?

Simply put, If you think you have a 1st Amendment right to disagree with the Obama Administration, YOU just might be a danger to the state and our government will be watching you with - as Janet Napolitano's DHS puts it - "a particular emphasis" on "rightwing extremist radicalization."

The A.F.L.-C.I.O. and the "Change to Win" federation of unions are so concerned about the 13.2 million unemployed Americans—that they've announced they want to give millions of American jobs permanently to illegal aliens by supporting a mass amnesty!

The New York Times reported this morning (April 13, 2009) that the Big Labor unions signed an accord that "endorses legalizing the status of illegal immigrants already in the United States. . ." The Times said this endorsement had been worked out by "consulting between the two [union] federations and with a variety of Hispanic organizations and advocate groups for immigrants."

This union sellout is the latest sign that every group in America that can make a fast buck on illegal immigration is lining up to push the gigantic amnesty backed by the Obama administration, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

(Today's news builds on another New York Times article from last Thursday [April 8,2009] , stating that the Obama administration was making amnesty a top priority.)

We had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a "large" enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.. He shook his head and said, "Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower." I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4. He said, "NO, it's not." Four is larger than two.."

We haven't used Sears repair since.

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill. Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter. She said, "you gave me too much money." I said, "Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back."

She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request. I did so, and he handed me back the quarter, and said "We're sorry but they could not do that kind of thing." The clerk then proceeded to give me back $1 and 75 cents in change.

Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.

I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: "Too many deer are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore."

I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her system would not turn on.

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the drivers side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.. "Hey," I announced to the technician, "its open!" His reply, "I know. I already got that side."

An elderly man in Louisiana had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back.

It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and looks it over. He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting And laughing with glee..

As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end. One of the women shouted to him, 'We're not coming out until you leave!

The old man frowned, 'I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked.'

Holding the bucket up he said, 'I'm here to feed the alligator.'

If you're anything like me, then you've had the urge to talk back to a right-wing talk radio host more than a few times. [This should be a snap... have one of your MSM talking heads parrot what you want to say back to Rush. He only has 3 hours a day. You have at least 21 other hours daily on television and even National Public Radio, plus the print media. PLEASE DO call in to Rush. He will put you right on so we can hear your particular slant of socialist wackiness... it should be a great addition to the library along with the Rita-X Files.]

Rush Limbaugh has made waves lately about his desire to see President Obama fail. And he's unapologetic, even though Americans [hypnotized ignorant sheeples] voted in November for the very kind of change the President is bringing to Washington. As even Limbaugh must know, if the President fails, America fails. [Not true! If he fails in his attempts to seize and socialize America, we WIN!]

But we have no apologies for Rush, just a message. We need you to come up with a slogan, in ten words or less, that we'll put on a billboard where he can't miss it -- in his hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Can you help us come up with a message for Rush that we'll place on a billboard right in his hometown?

We'll go through all the slogans we get, and the winner will have his or her message appear on the billboard -- and receive a free T-shirt featuring the winning slogan. [Hey, Casa D'Ice is already doing this on the conservative side!]

If Republican leaders aren't willing to tell Rush, then we will. Americans want President Obama to succeed. Our country's future depends on it. Rooting for the President's failure is rooting for our country to fail.

To get America back on a path to prosperity, we'll need to leave behind the failed partisan attack politics [as opposed to successful partisan attack politics of the socialist Democrats?] of the past. Americans voted for a new direction in November. Choosing Rush Limbaugh to be the voice of their party -- as Republican leaders have done -- is not the answer. [The socialist definition of prosperity: take from the "haves" and redistribute it to those who do-not/wil- not work for it... but only a portion. The rest gets used in their own pet pork projects advancing socialism.]

Time to stock up on your ammo of choice as they will get around to controlling the sale so you can not use your guns when you need them. You might also think of getting a loading press and dies (and supplies, primers, powder, bullets) for your particular shootin' irons. This will effectively negate any control grabs for ammunition.

With little money, they purchased a black and white television set and since I was too young to enroll in kindergarten, I watched Sesame Street, Electric Company, Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood and many other shows. Not only did it pass the time, but within four months I learned English.

Yes, like anything else, it takes time, it takes effort, it is blood, sweat and tears. But in the end, the effort is worthwhile when one can look back and proudly say, I did it!

In the initiative and support of making English the Official language of the United States, no where are we advocating that native languages, cultures, mannerisms be denied or forgotten.

Hard work, ingenuity, trials and tribulations sharpened the skills of Americans that serve our great country each and every day.

Making English the official language requires courage, standing up for the belief that without an understanding of the English language, one must rely on translators, interpreters and that makes one susceptible to incorrect translations, misunderstandings, wasteful spending and loss of income.

The Purina Diet

Yesterday I was at my local Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Biscuit, the Wonder Dog and was in the checkout line when woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think I had, an elephant?

So since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again.

I added "I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms."

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again.

(I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me.

I told her "No, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's ass and a car hit us both."

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

Wal-Mart won't let me shop there anymore.

Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.

Texas Chili

This was received in email... no author listed.

A young cowboy walks into a seedy cafe in Albany, Texas. He sits at the counter and notices an old cowboy with his arms folded staring blankly at a full bowl of chili.

After fifteen minutes of just sitting there staring at it, the young cowboy bravely asks the old cowpoke, 'If you ain't goanna eat that, mind if I do?'

The older cowboy slowly turns his head toward the young wrangler and in his best cowboy manner says, 'Nah, you go ahead..'

Eagerly, the young cowboy reaches over and slides the bowl over to his place and starts spooning it in with delight.

When Pennsylvania Congressman Jack Murtha recently said many of his home staters are "racist" and "rednecks," he may have been referring to the state's longtime U.S. senator.

The New York Post's Page 6 reports that Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., used the occasion of a public luncheon Friday to lighten up the crowd by telling Polish jokes.

Specter was speaking before the influential Commonwealth Club, a Pennsylvania Republican group meeting in New York's Rainbow Room, when he began his opening act.

The senator queried his audience if anyone present was Polish. Reportedly, about 10 people raised their hands.

Apparently callous to their feelings, Specter let loose with a stream of Polish jokes. The Post said he recounted the old one about a person who tells another person that he knows a good Polish joke. The man responds, "Hey careful, I'm Polish!" Specter delivered the punchline: "That's OK, I'll tell it more slowly."

A member of the stunned audience told the Post that Specter's jokes were "insensitive."

"I was offended, and I'm not Polish," the source said.

I bet that person was a blond

and was offended because she didn't get the joke anyway.

It wasn't told slowly enough, or explained in sufficient detail.

Nowadays people walk around looking for ways to be offended! In particular Democrats, but most especially liberals.

Most ethnic type jokes can be pointed in any direction by filling in the blank [Polish, Dutch, Irish, Jewish, Swedish, Newfie [ask a Canadian about Newfie jokes], dumb blond, etc.]

More Democrat Double Speak - The Employee Free Choice Act...

...meaning no more secret ballots! Democrats only like the secret ballot if they can have ACORN stuffing the ballot box for them.

The masters of double-speak [black is white, truth is a lie, hot is cold, etc.] are still at it. This report is about the union anti-secret ballot initiative strangely known as "The Employee Free Choice Act" as if taking away a workers choice to vote is giving him/her free choice to join or reject a union.

Here is what dropped into my email box from CWA today...

Today is International Human Rights Day, and all across the country CWA members like you are making a strong statement about the importance of workers' rights.

Despite being the world's wealthiest country, the United States still lags far behind in protecting the ability of workers to organize. Around the world, more than 70 other countries provide a fair way for workers to form a union.

The United States isn't one of them. [Starting in January, we become another socialist country like the European model]

CWA is leading a powerful mobilization effort today to change that by making sure that Congress is ready to move forward on Employee Free Choice Act. [Democrat Double Speak]

The bill would let workers choose between a vote and a simple majority sign-up system to decide on having union representation in their workplace. [NO It make eliminates the private ballot and makes card check the method of choice for the union organizer, not the employees.]

There is more including contact info for Stabenow and Levin, but this is the meat of the message.

Hmmm... I thought that a VOTE would determine the majority. Democrats are the ones who want to manufacture voter ballots and then cry about making EVERY VOTE COUNT! I wonder what would happen at a company that they are trying to organize if more pro-union ballots were counted than there were eligible employess??? Vote fraud doesn't translate as well to smaller pools of people so Democrats have to use other methods.

VIPRE - AntiVirus and AntiSpyware rolled in one [updated]

[12-5-2008 UPDATE: I now have VIPRE and SPF running on all noted computers and it looks like a super combination. I may be buying a site license to put it on ALL my computers.]

[11-30-2008] This past week, I received an email from Sunbelt Software about their new AntiVirus/AntiSpyware package called VIPRE with an upgrade special offer for CountrSpy users. Since the server here on my home network is/was protected by CounterSpy I decided to upgrade and bought a special package price for 3 licenses for computers on my home network... VIPRE seems to be a small footprint combination program.

I am getting varied results so far.

License [1] - is on my home network webserver, a WinXP Pro sp2 box. The upgrade/install appeared to go just dandy. It recognized that I had Counterspy and wiped it out to install in its place. I installed the key and did the registration.

All seemed well until less than an hour later, VIPRE just shut down.

Hmmm... I looked over the installed but inactive programs. I had already uninstalled AVG and Spybot S&D but found that I still had AVG AntiRootkit so it went away.

A reboot brought VIPRE back online, at which time I decided to do a quick scan. All seemed ot go okay with no problems found.

Then VIPRE shut down again. When VIPRE shuts down, the tray symbol turns red. When you right click it, options come up for various things. Selecting ANY of them causes the computer to freeze. A hardware reset (button on the box) is the only way to reset it at this point. I rebooted and decided to try to do a full deep scan. The computer churned on with VIPRE scanning deeply for over 4 hours. Then the VIPRE tray symbol changed from green to red once again with the scan incomplete, the program stopped. Trying to bring up the main VIPRE screen to see what it shows freezes the computer.

Another hard reset and I decide to reinstall AVG and Spybot S&D until I can get information on any means of debugging this from Sunbelt Software. Unfortunately, Counterspy is gone due to the "upgrade" and that the license for it had expired. The license [1] may wind up on one of my wireless boxes on my network if I can not get it to work on the server.

UPDATE: The problem was a conflict between VIPRE and the Comodo Pro firewall. I have changed over to the Sunbelt Personal Firewall and all is running smoothely with VIPRE now. Thanks Alex!

License [2] - is on my WinXP Home edition equipped laptop and that appears to be cruising along nicely. So far, no freezes or any other problem noted on the laptop. Also now equipped with SPF (Sunbelt Personal Firewall).

License [3] - is going on my livingroom computer this afternoon. update: It has been installed and is running fine. Also now equipped with SPF (Sunbelt Personal Firewall).

George Soros Funds "Catholic Left"

An organization founded by billionaire investor and Democratic financier George Soros has funded two “left-wing” Catholic groups that support abortion rights, according to Catholic League President Bill Donohue.

Soros “is connected to two apologists for abortion rights: Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, and Catholics United,” Donohue said in a Catholic League release.

“In 2006, Soros’ Open Society Institute gave Catholics in Alliance $100,000 [double the amount he gave in 2005], and in the same year, Catholics in Alliance listed Catholics United . . . as an organization with which it has a formal relationship.

“John Podesta, who runs the Soros-funded organization Center for American Progress, admits that he works closely with Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United.”

Donohue asks, “Why would any Catholic organization take money from a man like George Soros? . . .  And why would Soros have any interest in funding Catholic groups? He doesn’t give the Catholic League any money, and if he offered, I would refuse it.

“The reason Soros funds the Catholic left is the same reason he lavishly funds Catholics for Choice, the pro-abortion group that has twice been condemned as a fraud by Catholic bishops. They all service his agenda, namely, to make support for abortion rights a respectable Catholic position.”

On Oct. 17, Denver Archbishop Charles Chaput accused Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United of doing a “disservice” to the Catholic Church, according to Donohue, who added, “He’s right — and now we know what really makes them tick.”

Chris Korzen of Catholics United sought to counter the criticism from Donohue by asserting that Soros’ organization also contributes to Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services, and Catholic Legal Immigration Services.

But Donohue told LifeNews.com, “Unlike the three Catholic organizations cited by Korzen, Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance are apologists for abortion.

“Their passion for abortion rights is so strong that they refuse to endorse the legal ban on partial-birth abortion.”
