Citizens living abroad vote absentee
I just became aware of a web site where people living in other countries can request an absentee ballot to vote in US elections.
http://www.votefromabroad.org/
This has the potential for voter fraud. I thought someone had to be a resident here to vote. Apparently permanent residents overseas have wangled a way to pull absentee ballots and have them sent over there. This looks like a great way for the DNC to be able to generate votes when needed.

Late UPDATE on the GRCC tax vote...
The tax increase vote for GRCC went down once again. Usually these August tax votes are a slam dunk for the taxers. They line up their supporters quietly and minimum notice of the upcoming vote is given even more quietly. Most people seem to be totally unaware as it is low keyed all the way. People are getting in the end of summer activities and vacations and may be away from home on trips. The taxers cringe when activists start the JUST SAY NO TO NEW TAXES campaigns. The media gives no coverage to either side and keeps it quiet as an aid to the taxers. I noticed a short blurb on the local evening news the night before.
I wonder if GRCC will try a third tax increase vote in November?

JUST VOTE NO ON TAX INCREASE- August 7, 2007
NO NEW TAXES
On August 7th the tax and spenders are hoping you will stay home so they can pass a tax increase. If you do not vote on Tuesday, August 7 2007, and then see your tax bill go up, don't cry, you did vote by ignoring your civic duty. A no-show is a YES vote for higher taxes. If this is your feelings on raising taxes, you dont need to show up because the BIG tax crowd will have their proponents lined up ready to vote you a tax increase. By now you all should have been hit in the wallet by your increased summer tax by several hundred dollars county tax collected six months early (authorized by Sak, Koetje, Sikkema, and more). The tax-and-spenders want to jack up your tax bill even larger. If you look, GRCC is itemized seperately. They have been building like crazy downtown and now want you to pay additional because they built all these shiny new buildings and want to fill them with bodies at your expense.
If you go look in the MLive.com Grand Rapids forum (message 9649), one of the writers (CNRCO) calls this tax "an increase by a thousand cuts"... Twenty bucks here and another twenty there and after a while it adds up to some serious money. Also see the debate continue in message 9680 on MLive.com... unfortuantely it's mostly all the same players. Very few new voices in the forum. MLive.com is the Booth News Group (GR Press, Anal Arbor News, Kalamazooty Gazette, etc) online presence so this may turn people off. I have wondered how many commenters are staffers of the GR Press.
But why have I not heard anything about this tax increase?
Whenever they want to push through a tax increase the taxers will wait until August and hope you are away on vacation. They are very low key and hope you do not notice that the election is coming until it is here. The local mass media is in full participation on this. The local radio and TV stations, news papers, you name it! Then they hope you will be too busy to get to the polling place. They know who their supporters are and have them all lined up to pass a tax increase for you. They want to bypass the Headlee Amendment that keeps them from just assessing an increase on you.
"I have to work. I am too busy to bother with a small vote like this."
"Go home to vote... dont be silly."
"Oh it is just a school election. I never bother with those."
"The tax failed in the last election. It will again this time so I dont need to bother."
If you don't vote, don't cry about the size of your tax bill!
NO NEW TAXES
If you live in these areas you have this on the ballot:
- Bowne Township - Alto Downtown Development Authority
- Byron Township - Local Development Finance Authority, Downtown Development Authority, Division Avenue Corridor Improvement Authority
- Cascade Charter Township - Downtown Development Authority

2008 is a LOOOoooong way off
...but the MSM is already trying to stack the deck. Their darling from the Right side of the fence (as they see it, we know better) is McCain. Everyone else might as well just sit down. McCain is packing his campaign staff with former Bush workers. Other RINOs are busy snapping up the loose ones missed by McCain. McCain has even hired on a Democrat consultant to try to better his odds.
From much farther out in left field, the king makers have not finalized the pick. The last time they did, it bought them the embarrassment of John Kerry and the revelations in an uncontrolled internet media that he is not the hero he self portrayed. Many expected that further investigations of Kerry's treasons would result from all the information that flowed, but severe damage control was in play. The DC sphincter clamped down hard, not allowing any investigations to go forward about why Kerry has not had a formal court martial over his self admitted crimes that he confessed in sworn testimony years ago, or his treating with his communist handlers/spymasters in Paris, France as to how to aid them in the USA while the Vietnam war was ongoing. Remember, he was an officer and gentleman by an act of congress at the time. Also remember that the murders and treason that he confessed to have no statute of limitations. Why has Kerry not been properly investigated, tried, and hung as a traitor? How many 'bonesmen' in bureaucratic positions are covering for him?
Senator Edward Kennedy reaffirmed on Sunday that he would support fellow Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, if Kerry were to run again in 2008.
"John is going to make his mind up in these very next few weeks, and I have every intention of supporting him. I think of what a difference John Kerry would be if he were president of the United States of America. We'd be a vastly different country. And I think John Kerry — people underestimate him. They underestimated (him) the last time. I think he's a strong candidate" said Kennedy.
The MSM is having minor Obasms right now over the run off possibilities between Clinton and Obama in the Democrat primaries, and maybe a co-presidency or president/vice president pairing.
A check at the web page "Amnesty Votes" reveals:
- Obama, Clinton, and Kerry all voted to give illegal aliens social security benefits
- Obama, Clinton, and Kerry all voted for S.2611 amnesty for illegal aliens
This is where grassroots activism can play a very important part. The Democrat party is VERY much for amnesty of illegal aliens, those low wage people who are flooding in, taking "...jobs no American wants". There are a sizable number of patriotic citizens who are registered Democrats but do not support the party line on amnesty for illegals as it affects their paychecks. Many of those voters were known as 'Reagan Democrats'.
- Are you gradually learning a little Spanish to communicate with your co-workers in the hopes that it will help you keep your job?
- Has your employer announced pay cuts to remain competetive while hiring low wage replacement workers for the US citizens that have been laid off or fired? Has your employer started firing for the most petty, ridiculous reasons?
- Has your employer closed certain job categories and opened new low wage jobs that no one will bid on?
- Has your employer threatened to close the plant and move it to Mexico?
This is the kind of news that should be leaked out via the internet media as the MSM will protect and defend their allies and attack their enemies. By revealing this info, you will become an enemy of the left.
2008 may seem like a long way off right now, but we need to start organizing and collecting data on candidates, wannabes, and their supporters to sort them out and shine the light of day on them. Information revealed now will be valuable later.
Your fellow patriotic citizens will thank you! (...and the legal immigrants too!)

McCain's Democrat Sledgehammer
John McCain is further proving that he straddles the aisle, drawing support from the other camp as needed in his quest to seize the oval office BAMN. We have seen how the leftist media fawns and McCain reciprocates with support for causes that are antithetical to conservatives. The GOP in Arizona has finally become aware of what McCain is, so he has decided it is time to try to fool a wider audience. McCain could not win the National Committemen position of Arizona. His prime supporter in Arizona, formerly undefeated in the party ex-Governor Fife Symington, could not win the state party chair. True conservatives are cleaning house.
John Weaver, McCains Democrat "Karl Rove"...
John Weaver, Sen. John McCain's political adviser, surprised others in the McCain operation with a vituperative attack on anti-tax activist Grover Norquist for claiming that the senator had reached out to end their long feud.
These colleagues support Weaver's assertion that Norquist was not telling the truth, but question the language used. "I think [Norquist is] just lonely with [disgraced lobbyist] Jack Abramoff gone to prison," Weaver told the Roll Call newspaper. "I think he's probably just sad and lonely and delusional. . . . Only when he has pimped himself enough with reporters does his name even come up."
One McCain adviser called Weaver "the sledgehammer in McCain's golf bag." Advising McCain in 2000, Weaver railed against social conservatives and feuded with Bush adviser Karl Rove. Weaver announced early in 2001 that he had become a Democrat, but he returned to McCain for the 2008 campaign.

John Cox in 2008? Who is John Cox?
BY CHRIS CAMIRE, Valley Dispatch Staff
PELHAM -- The first person to publicly announce his candidacy for the 2008 presidential election gave those in attendance at the Pelham Middle School last week an idea of how he'd run things from the Oval Office.
At the Aug. 25 event organized by the Pelham Young Republicans, John Cox, a Republican businessman from Chicago, said he is seeking the presidency because his party has strayed from its principles.
"The Republicans have lost some of their common sense," said the 50-year-old millionaire. "They've signed onto the idea that spending and bigger government are ways to solve problems. Republicans have forgotten what being a Republican is all about."
===
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, Dec. 8, 2006
Contact: Stephen Abbott, communications director, 603-785-7796
The following is a statement from John Cox for President Communications Director Stephen Abbott:
"It's was reported this week that Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback is exploring a bid for the presidency.
Sen. Brownback has taken some admirable stands on social issues - he is pro-life and stands against gay marriage. But sadly, he has taken positions which make his candidacy a "tough sell" with the Republican Party, namely, his advocacy of open borders and illegal immigration.
Brownback has voted to support a "guest worker" program, voted to support giving Social Security to illegal aliens, and believes illegals who broke the law deserve to be rewarded with a "fast track" to citizenship.
An open borders policy is wrong for America. It allows unscrupulous employers to exploit human beings who are living here illegally, it puts a huge strain on our hospitals, schools and housing; it takes jobs from low- and middle-income, legal American citizens and it cheapens our sense of citizenship.
John Cox is a social conservative who is already in the race for the 2008 Republican nomination. While John Cox believes in immigration, he also believes in letting those who legally wait for citizenship come in the front door, legally.
John Cox would build a barrier in the most vulnerable border areas to stop the flood of illegal immigrants into our cities, and would crack down on employers who give jobs to illegal aliens.
Sen. Brownback voted YES to create "guest workers." He voted YES to allow illegals to get Social Security. He voted YES to give illegal aliens citizenship.
Republican Primary voters will vote NO on Sam Brownback if he runs for the Presidency."
John H. Cox, 51, is the first announced Republican candidate for president in 2008. He has active campaign organizations in 26 states. He is a CPA, real estate broker, attorney and investment advisor. He is the former president of the Cook County (IL) Republican Party.
Cox is making all the correct statements to get the attention and support of conservatives. What he needs now is name recognition.

Frist abandons White House race
After he completes his two terms in the Senate, Republican plans to return home to Tenn.
Bartholomew Sullivan / Scripps Howard News Service
WASHINGTON -- Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee will not seek the presidency in 2008, he announced Wednesday.
"In the Bible, God tells us for everything there is a season, and for me, for now, this season of being an elected official has come to a close," the Tennessee senator said in a statement released Wednesday. "I do not intend to run for president in 2008."
Frist was a popular figure when he came to Washington after 20 years as a transplant surgeon. Stories of how he rushed to treat a gunman who shot two Capitol police officers in 1998, later tended to victims in a South Florida car accident and regularly treated heart patients in the Sudan, raised his stature.
I'll believe it when 2008 rolls around and RINO Frist's name is not in the mix along with McCain and the other rebel senate RINOs.

Mike Bouchard endorses Saul Anuzis for Michigan GOP Chair
U.S. Senate Candidate Mike Bouchard Endorses Anuzis
My Fellow Republicans:
I really appreciate all the work that was
done by you and the whole Republican team this past cycle, but future
challenges lay ahead of us. I am supporting Saul Anuzis to continue as
Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. Saul is the right leader to
help lead our party to success in 2008.
I have known Saul for
over 20 years. He is a tireless worker, great motivator and, critical to
the party, a successful fundraiser. Saul and the Michigan Republicans
were a big part of our efforts to try to win back the U.S. Senate seat.
Senator
Elizabeth Dole at one point said "you're lucky to have a chairman like
Saul" and I couldn't agree more. He was an aggressive advocate for our
race with the White House, the National Republican Senatorial Committee
and the Republican National Committee. He pitched national pundits and
the media to help us establish our campaign as one of the "winnable"
challengers, which helped bring additional resources into Michigan.
Those relationships meant a great deal.
I encourage you to join
me in supporting Saul now. Let's continue the efforts of building lists
and supporting our grass roots so our candidates of 2008 have a strong
party behind them. Thank you again for all you have done and will do in
the future.
Sincerely,
Mike Bouchard
P.S. If you want to join the team and support Saul, go to www.anuzisforchair.com
and hit the "Join our Team" tab to endorse his campaign.

Why the Republicans lost, it was a No Confidence vote
In the following essay, Mac Johnson puts forth an explanation of how people have lost faith in the GOP Brand. This was a case of Republican ideas and ideals being violated and brand loyalty was not enough to attract or hold the voters who might have otherwise voted the Republican ticket. The British and other parliamentary governments would recognize this as a vote of "No Confidence". This is the nearest we can come to it in a representative republic form of government.
Read on...
The American Thinker
Killing the GOP Brand
November 21st, 2006
by Mac Johnson
“Shake it off.” That old coach’s nugget seems to be most Republicans’ response to the recent devastating election results. The message of many is that it was a unique situation, a massive one-time blow that has left the party with a mild concussion, but from which we can recover quickly.
We’ll have to endure two years of sectarian violence in Congress, will likely lose out on a conservative Supreme Court nominee or two, and will be up to our elbows in investigations and made-to-veto stunt legislation, but by 2008 the special circumstances that killed us in 2006 will be changed – and life can return to normal, with the GOP winning elections nearly by default. So goes the hopeful chant.
However, that is just wrong. The shock the GOP felt was not a lucky blow by Democrats, or a stumble caused by chance. It was the door hitting us on the way out of many voters’ trust. Before the election was even over and the votes fully counted, lots of experts offered opinions and theories on why the GOP lost so badly, but not a single one of them holds up.
It was fatigue from the Iraq war, was the favorite theory. But tell that to Ned Lamont. The poster boy for the anti-war left, Lamont was trounced in his Senate battle by Joe Lieberman, the single most pro-war Democrat known. Even having to run as an independent in a three-way race with a pro-war Republican draining votes from his right flank, and with all his “friends” in the Democratic party campaigning against him, Lieberman won in anti-war Connecticut.
That Iraq war fatigue theory doesn’t explain Lincoln Chafee’s glorious defeat either. More anti-war than most Democrats, and about as loyal to President Bush as Cindy Sheehan, Chafee was every liberal’s favorite Republican. But he lost just like so many pro-war, pro-Bush Republicans. Clearly the war played a powerful role in the election, but it was not a simple litmus test for voters.
Likewise, corruption was offered as an explanation. This theory also has truth in it. But neither Senator Harry Reid’s pocket-padding land deals, nor Representative William Jefferson’s freezer full of inexplicable cash overly tarnished Democrats’ prospects. Similarly, the personal corruption of former Rep. Mark Foley was cited as a factor. Yet voters in Rhode Island were happy to return admitted drug addict and drunk driver Patrick Kennedy to Congress. (Perhaps people just expect more from Republicans.)
Immigration issues were cited as a factor. But how does one explain Arizona voters overwhelmingly passing four very tough anti-illegal alien ballot measures on one side of the ballot, and simultaneously rejecting tough-on-border-security Republicans like J.D. Hayworth and Randy Graf on the other? The defeated consist of both amnesty proponents and opponents. Voters angry at pro-amnesty Republicans sometimes replaced them with even more pro-amnesty Democrats.
The economy is strong by nearly every measure, but was viewed as heading in the wrong direction.
For every issue, glaring contradictions can be found. The only workable explanation is that voters were voting against Republicans precisely because they were Republicans.
This theory also explains how some Democrats, virtually unknown even in the districts in which they were running, won a majority of votes (Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire comes to mind). These candidates were the human equivalent of the pollsters’ “generic ballot” – and they won. It’s striking also that the defeats for the GOP went well down the ballot. How does anyone expect to affect the war in Iraq or illegal immigration or even corruption in Washington by electing a new county representative to the state legislature or a new councilor to the town board?
The GOP, it appears, has spoiled its reputation, or as it’s known in business, their “franchise” or “brand.” The little “R” after candidates’ names is today seen as a net negative by many voters who just two years ago saw it as a mild indicator of quality. This is the worst possible turn of events a party can face – and one that could do damage for years to come.
Although elections are often portrayed as contests of ideas, or battles between individual candidates, these simplifications are only partially true. There are a lot of candidates, and a lot of claims, and too many offices and issues for most people to follow closely. So many voters do what consumers everywhere do: when in doubt, they go with the brand they trust most. Features and price (or ideas and candidates) have to compete against that prejudice.
I could buy a Dodge or a Toyota. The Dodge is cheaper, and it looks better. But I’ll probably buy the Toyota, because (having owned both) I don’t trust Dodge. It would take a helluva Dodge salesman or a huge price difference to overcome that lack of trust. That’s the power of a brand of good reputation – it removes lots of doubt at decision time.Ten dollar bargain bin sneakers are a suspect purchase. Ten dollar name brand sneakers are viewed as a no brainer, as long as they aren’t counterfeit.
It appears that “Republican” has now become a suspect brand, just as Dodge or Ford or GM are to many car buyers. Republicans cannot, therefore, expect things to simply revert to being in their favor in the next election cycle, any more than Dodge can hope to have Toyota owners suddenly stop buying Toyotas and switch to Dodge without some powerful new evidence.
Either the Democrats will have to re-tarnish their newly forgiven brand massively in the next two years, or the GOP will need to take extraordinary steps to overcome the philosophical inertia that burdens their brand in many voters’ minds. It will not be enough for the GOP to merely go and sin no more. Changing a reputation (for the worse or better) requires one to make a huge swing outside expectations for a sustained period. Stereotypes are stubborn things.
So what harmed the GOP brand? A deadly cocktail of stupid, atypical decisions. It was everything that the GOP did that surprised voters negatively – and sustained that ill surprise long enough to overcome the inertia of the old (good) brand reputation.
And it must be noted that you can only ruin a brand’s reputation with those who believe in it to some degree. Those who already hate your brand are not going to punish you for changing. So the GOP’s woes can be traced entirely to how the image of the brand has been changed for those who were previously somewhat loyal to the brand (independents and moderates) or very loyal to the brand (conservatives).
The brand-killing actions include violating the expectations of:
1) Fiscal conservatism. The GOP is expected to be the party of fiscal discipline. Under Bush and the current congressional leadership, the GOP has outspent anything the Democrats have attempted since LBJ. One of the core tenets of the conservative movement is that more government equals less freedom. For six years, Bush and the leadership of the GOP have been trying to sell less freedom to a core constituency that admires Reagan and Goldwater. Many budgetary poison pills were swallowed by the base, year after year, in the belief that austerity was just around the corner. Last week the base choked on these bitter pills – and threw up Congress.
2) Security competence. One of the most amazing polls from the wake of the election showed that 78% of voters were somewhat or very concerned that the Democrats that many of the poll respondents had just voted for would trigger a larger crisis by withdrawing from Iraq too quickly. This shows that the Democrats have done nothing to overcome their reputation as untrustworthy with national security. Instead, the GOP has managed to join them in that reputation, by bungling Iraq and by Bush fighting to leave the border wide open in his quixotic quest to get Sancho Panza’s vote.
3) Law and order, including immigration law, and border order. Illegal immigration is corruption. Our government officials have decided to not enforce an entire category of laws and, indeed, to facilitate their violation by millions in order to enrich donors and entrench themselves in power behind a barricade of illegitimate new voters. Given that “law and order” has long been one of the perceived strengths of the Republican Party, the GOP’s participation in this corruption of justice is a brand-killing disaster. People expect such lunacy from the party of pander. The GOP is expected to pander less.
4) Honesty. People really do expect more of Republicans on this issue – or at least they did. Democrats’ long association with big city political machines, unions, and the surname “Kennedy” has left them with a reputation as the sort of folks that see government as a one big “gray area” for personal deal making. Republicans, by contrast, were seen as wonderfully humorless grumpy old stiffs who could be counted on to answer unethical offers with an indignant quote from Teddy Roosevelt or Thomas Jefferson. Thanks to Jack Abramoff and company, they are now just seen as humorless grumpy old hypocrites.
5) The common touch and an ability to connect. The ability to connect with the middle and working classes and to take conservative principles to the people was the greatest gift Ronald Reagan left the GOP. He did not talk down to the people. He did not ignore the people. And he was not perplexed by the belief’s of the people.
Bush is aloof, isolated, politically incestuous in his appointments of the family-initiated, and incapable of frank eloquence. Increasingly, he has the unique ability to combine the elitist manner of his father with the grammar of his gardener.
Congress seems a separate country some times. Its members fly back to gerrymandered districts every two years to harvest votes and cash checks, and then return to the imperial city to which they have become assimilated. Many Republicans in Congress seem to be thinking about what to say rather than saying what they think. Few are salesmen or spokesmen for ideas any more. Denny Hastert seemed to have a phobia of microphones and cameras – while Speaker of the House. Boehner and Blunt seem content in being the men behind the curtain – pay no attention to them.
These weighty violations of established expectations have sunk the brand. To restore it large, oversized and well-publicized course corrections must be begun and stuck to with great discipline and earnestness. The five failings must be addressed by
1) a return to fighting baseless government spending;
2) an improvement in Iraq within the year- by any means required;
3) initiating prosecution of the corrupt businesses that hire illegal labor (just as all other manner of corrupt businesses are prosecuted) and categorically rejecting amnesty for immigration criminals;
4) Rooting out any remaining corruption in the party and expelling it. The GOP should hold its members to a higher standard than the law or than do Democrats;
5) Choosing leaders that can act as ideological salesman to the public (not backroom deal makers), and emphasizing to members that each must listen, respond, sell and preach ideas in their districts. The movement isn’t going to sell itself.
The voters who abandoned the GOP have not abandoned their beliefs, and could quickly be won back from their uncomfortable trial separation from the party – if given reasons to return. Failure to address vigorously the five basic betrayals that drove them away, however, will allow the current poisoned brand reputation to set permanently. The result will be an end of GOP ascendancy for a decade or more.

Republicans for Duckworth, now Progressives for Duckworth
Across the pond in Ill-Noise there was a candidate (in Il-6) who after encouragement from the socialist Democrats, decided to use her war injuries from Iraq to run for a congressional office as a Democrat. The Dems figure that war injuries are like impervious political armor and no one had better take on one of their candidates that is armored in such a way. They even put up a web site called "Republicans For Duckworth". I just took a look and the URL is still that way but the visible front page says "Progressives for Duckworth". That is still a howler because there is nothing progressive about socialist Democrats. They consider annual increases in the number of abortions, a growing welfare roll, massive tax increases, and gun control or confiscation as progressive.
Duckworth LOST! But you have to read way down the page to find any mention of it! The top three fourths of the page is about all the other races where voters decided to heed the "Hate Bush" campaign that was the only platform the Socialst Dems put forth. It was enough to convert the last two years of lame duck El Presidente Jorge Boosh into a real roasting pan. Lets see if my predictions of impeachment and conviction come about. Bush and his RINO cohort took a real spanking (along with the rest of the country).

Election no mandate for the Democrats
Voters frustrated with GOP, not enamored of Dem ideas
The Detroit News
Democrats should be careful about interpreting their sweeping victory Tuesday both nationally and in Michigan as a mandate from the voters.
This election was a referendum on President George W. Bush and the Republican Party, and not an endorsement of the Democratic agenda.
The Democrats can't claim to have won on ideas, since they didn't campaign on ideas.
["Hate Bush" was the daily drumbeat and platform of the Socialist Democrats. That is enough to keep the socialist foot soldiers warm but not to motivate normal citizens. To complete the cycle the Dems now have to impeach him. In the process they will remove his alterego, El Presidente Jorge Boosh. The Jeckyl and Hyde president will get the legacy that he asked for by pandering to illegals.I warned Bush about this back in April or May of 2006 via emails, letters to the editor of various rags around the country, and in my blog here.]
Their strategy centered on attacking Bush and the GOP, rather than on articulating a platform for change.
[Hmmmm... so their governing mandate is "Hate Bush!" I wonder, does this mean that they will keep him around for th rest of his term just to fulfill the expectations of the millions of voters who voted AGAINST Bush, not specifically for a Democrat?]

Jorge Boosh's speech and commentary by Rush Limbaugh
I had to work yesterday and didn't get chance to post a comment about it, plus I was angry and decided to let it stew overnight.
I was chatting with a couple of people when we heard that there was going to be a radio speech by the president. Our consensus was that Bush was going to announce a change of parties to the Democrats to avoid being impeached. It sure sounded like it.
Now we will get millions of illegal aliens converted to citizens which the Dems and Jorge Boosh both wanted. This was a point of agreement between them. I imagine that there is currently a cockroach stampede northward over a 2000 mile front at the good news that all who can cha-cha across the border will be accepted so long as their friends, the socialist Democrats and El Presidente Jorge Boosh remain in agreement about them.
Here is the commentary by Rush Limbaugh about why the Republicans lost.
Rush Limbaugh: Why Republicans Lost
Republicans took a beating on Election Day because they abandoned their conservative principles and in the end stood for nothing, Rush Limbaugh says.
In his Wednesday broadcast, America’s top talker said that until Republicans begin asking themselves what’s wrong with themselves they are never going to fix their problems.
When things go wrong, Rush said, "you must look inward and ask first, ‘What did we do wrong? What could we have done better? What mistakes did we make?”
Commenting that although Republicans lost, "Conservatism did not lose, Republicanism lost last night. Republicanism, being a political party first, rather than an ideological movement, is what lost last night.”
The Democrats, he said "beat something last night with nothing. They advanced no agenda other than their usual anti-war position. They had no contract — they really never did get specific. Their message was one of ‘vote for us; the other guys have been in power too long.’”
Rush further admonished, "There was no dominating conservative message that came from the [Republican] top and filtered down throughout in this campaign.”
He added that if there was conservatism in the campaign, it was on the Democratic side: "There were conservative Democrats running for office in the House of Representatives and in a couple of Senate races won by Democrats yesterday.” He cited James Webb as an example.
He also said it was conservatism that won fairly big when it was tried, but it was Democrats who ran as conservatives and not their GOP rivals. He added that the Democratic leadership had gone out and recruited conservative candidates because they knew liberals could not win running against Republicans in red states.
Rush quoted Thomas Sowell as explaining that the latest example of election fraud is actually what the Democrats did — they nominated a bunch of moderate and conservative candidates for the express purpose of electing a far-left Democratic leadership.
"The Democrats could not have won the House, being liberals,” Rush said. "Liberalism didn’t win anything yesterday; Republicanism lost. Conservatism was nowhere to be found except on the Democratic side.”
The root of the problem, Rush said, is that "our side hungers for ideological leadership and we’re not getting it from the top. Conservatism was nowhere to be found in this campaign from the top. The Democrats beat something with nothing. They didn’t have to take a stand on anything other than their usual anti-war positions. They had no clear agenda and they didn’t dare offer one. Liberalism will still lose every time it’s offered.”
Republicans, Rush said, allowed themselves to be defined. "Without elected conservative leadership from the top Republicans in the House and Senate republicans are free to freelance and say the hell with party unity.”
That leads, Rush said, to the emergence of RINOs — Republicans in name only.
Republicans in Congress, Rush explained, were held captive by the party’s leadership in the White House. They were put into a position of having to endorse policies with which as conservatives they disagreed.
"The Democratic Party,” Rush went on to say, "is the party of entitlements; but the Republicans come up with this Medicare prescription drug plan that the polls said that the public didn’t want and was not interested in. That is not conservatism. Conservatives do not grow the government and offer entitlements as a means of buying votes. But that’s what the Republicans in Congress had to support in order to stay in line with the Party from the top.
"It is silly to blame the media; it is silly to blame the Democrats; it is silly to go out and try to find all these excuses,” Rush said. "We have proved that we can beat them … we have proved that we can withstand whatever we get from the drive-by media. Conservatism does that — conservatism properly applied, proudly, eagerly, with vigor and honesty will triumph over that nine times out of 10 in this current political and social environment. It just wasn’t utilized in this campaign.”
Rush also blamed the failure to embrace conservatism on Republican’s fear of being criticized from those in the so-called establishment. Republicans, he charged, go out of their way to avoid being criticized, fearing they will be characterized as extremists and kooks.
As a result conservatism gets watered down, and the GOP loses the support of the nation’s conservative majority Rush stated.
Anything can beat nothing, Rush concluded, "and it happened yesterday.”
Rush also said that the elections liberated him.
"I feel liberated, and I'm going to tell you as plainly as I can why," Rush said. "I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don't think deserve having their water carried. Now, you might say, 'Well, why have you been doing it?' Because the stakes are high. Even though the Republican Party let us down, to me they represent a far better future for my beliefs and therefore the country's than the Democrat Party and liberalism does."
Rush went on to explain that he believes his side is worthy of victory, and that he believes it's much easier "to reform things that are going wrong on my side from a position of strength. Now I'm liberated from having to constantly come in here every day and try to buck up a bunch of people who don't deserve it, to try to carry the water and make excuses for people who don't deserve it."
The nation's top talker confided "I did not want to sit here and participate, willingly, in the victory of the libs, in the victory of the Democrat Party by sabotaging my own. But now with what has happened yesterday and today, it is an entirely liberating thing. If those in our party who are going to carry the day in the future -- both in Congress and the administration -- are going to choose a different path than what most of us believe, then that's liberating. I don't say this with any animosity about anybody, and I don't mean to make this too personal."
Rush explained that it has not been easy for him to endorse some of the things backed by Republicans in Congress. "There have been a bunch of things going on in Congress, some of this legislation coming out of there that I have just cringed at, and it has been difficult coming in here, trying to make the case for it when the people who are supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves -- and to have to come in here and try to do their jobs ... "
[the gospel according to Rush Limbaugh]
===
I agree with Rush. We tried to put a good face on it for party unity but that didnt bring out the conservative vote. My "Timeline" message that I sent to Bush and a few media sources (The Hill, Roll Call, and RollCall.com) from earlier this year seems to be coming along. Bush tried to head off impeachment yesterday by doing everything but announcing a switch of party label from Republican (In Name Only) to Socialist Democrat. Bush is the head RINO and the reason that the RINOs in the senate and house were so bold. It is past time to cover for them. Every time conservatism is put forward as a platform it succeeds, and the Dems used this principle to unseat liberal-to-moderate Republicans in enough races to take over the House and Senate by running candidates who were more conservative that the "Republican" opposition. Wobbly liberal Republicanism lost the election.

Timeline...
Mr President. Earlier this year, I sent you a "Timeline..." letter concerning the senate passing sweeping "immigration reform" legislation. The senate RINOs in a great display of comity joined with the Democrats to pass S.2611. Looks like my "timeline" is unfolding. Lets see if impeachment proceedings start in January. I have not seen results as to whether we held the senate , but if the Dems took control there, I predict that you will be impeached, convicted, and removed from office before this time next year. By November 2007 I expect to be addressing messages to President Cheney if he hasn't already died of a heart attack.
[See Timeline - A note to President Bush (April 22, 2006) note: this may also be accessed via the sidebar permalinks]
Am I dissapointed at yesterdays results? DAMN RIGHT I AM! I worked for months as a grassroots volunteer manning the phones. I volunteered to be a precinct delegate. I spent the whole election day as Republican Poll Watcher in the Grand Rapids 2nd Ward, 10th Precinct. I watched a small group (372 of a possible 1099) of voters come out and cast ballots. We never did have a line form. Looks like the only ones energized were the Democrats. If the conservatives had been enthusiastic, this couldn't have happened. I tried to let my peers know what staying away would mean with Pelosi as speaker but it appears that the desire to spank you is stronger than the welfare of the nation. A damned shame, but Rush Limbaugh will be in hog heaven with the Dems coming back into power. Lots of grist for his mill. The rest of the country is now going to go down the tube. The Dems will take this narrow victory as an absolute mandate. At least you will get your beloved Illegal Aliens the amnesty you desired. The Dems also shared your desire.
Well, Mr President, if you are impeached and removed from office, all I can say is... Told Ya So! Nya Nya Nya!

Attention Republican Poll Watchers!
Attention Poll Watchers
We are now less than 48 hours from one of the most important votes of our lifetimes.
This poster is a blatant attempt by Democrats to secure fraudulent votes and voters.
Just because we are far (here in Michigan) from the border states with Mexico do not think we are not involved. We have a rather large population of illegals in our midst. Many have left the farms, lured by employers who seek low wage workers for building homes and offices, road construction, and factory work.
A vote to put the Democrats back in power makes amnesty for illegals a reality. They were the "majority vote" (only 5 of their caucus against it) behind the passage of Senate Bill 2611 with a minority of Republican In Name Only senators (23 of the Republican senate gaggle) to pass it.
A vote for Democrats assures tax hikes, cut and run from anywhere that islamofascists rear their heads, terrorist strikes here in the USA, conversion to sharia law (modified to give the semblance of Democrat compromise), anything suggesting Christianity will be banned from public display under the guise of seperation of church and state (which does not exist in the constitution or amendments), neighborhood abortion clinics.... use your imagination.
Giving liberal Dems power could cause political damage that might take a generation to reverse, if it can be fixed at all.
The Democrat Party of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson is DEAD! The liberal Democrat Party of 2006 is the party of Soddom and Gammorrah. Look at the constituencies that form their party (abortion, homosexuality, pedophilia, euthanasia, and almost any other perversion imaginable.) have left behind any semblance of normal family life. They are bent on destruction and redefinition of what is a normal family. The Democrats still try to claim to be the party of the working family, but when you apply their definition of family this gets shakey. They have mostly succeeded in destroying what was the traditional family.over the past generation. A Democrat "family" is any loose confederation of warm bodies gathered for mutual companionship with minimal social, emotional, or contractual ties.

Democrats outing Jesus Christ as a homosexual abortionist
That is the only possible conclusion if you look at who the liberal Democrats are. When they claim religious moral values, those values can only emanate from a leader who also holds them near and dear, thus they must "out" HIM to be able to claim affiliation. A dirty little secret is how many of these Democrats who shape these pro-death values of abortion and euthanasia claim allegiance with the Roman Catholic church. As for the values liberals set so highly on abortion and euthanasia, Lazarus might be surprized. Jesus Christ raised the dead. Liberal Democrats want a savior (or maybe a grim reaper) who is more concerned with increasing the numbers of dead babies and helpless vicitms of euthanasia.
Jesus forgave sinners. He said "You are forgiven. Go and sin no more!"
The savior the libs are looking for says "Forgive WHAT? Go and sin some more!"
And Satan said, "I will give you all this if you will fall down before me!"
Democrats find religion, churchgoing voters
(The Liberal Church of Jesus the Homosexual Abortionist)
By Thomas Ferraro Thu Nov 2, 8:15 AM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic politicians have found religion and that may help explain why they are suddenly more popular among churchgoing Americans.
As they push to win control of the U.S. Congress in Tuesday's elections from Republicans, who have long enjoyed support among conservative religious voters, more and more Democrats have shed a reluctance to talk about their faith.
"What we're doing is paying real dividends in the faith community," said Rep. James Clyburn (news, bio, voting record) of South Carolina, who heads the House of Representatives Democratic Faith Working Group, an outreach effort by lawmakers to ministers from the left and right.
"We're framing issues in religious terms and getting our members to be comfortable with it," said Clyburn, the son of a fundamentalist minister.
The title above is the only way that the party of homosexuality and abortion can explain its "new found" views on religion. The Democrats can never publicly say what they stand for at election time because all people of moral character would shun them. Unfortunately the libs have had a long time to erode moral values and move them far to the left of where the traditional American Family paradigm used to be. This is no longer the "Ozzie and Harriet" or "Father Knows Best" family tradition country. It has drifted more toward the Osbornes, with Saint Howard Stern and Saint Larry Flynt as patrons.
Thanks to Slick Willy, our children now know what was not considered by der Schlickmeister to be sexual conduct.
Homosexuals have always been a core constituency of the liberal Democrat party with the NOW gang (the NAGS) as members of the legion. NAMBLA has come to the forefront and is part of that constituency too. Abortionists and the Hemlock Society for Easy Euthanasia are right at the core.
They have found a few pet "reverends" of the Church of Jesus the Homosexual Abortionist to front for them. This gives them "respectability". These churches are part of the "if it feels good, do it!" Dr Feelgood category. They practice by the gospel of St. John Lennon. Unfortunately, there are more than a few "catholics" who publicly profess abortion as their primary sacrament, and their bishops refuse to impose sanctions. Other religious sects seem to just bury their heads in the sand too.
Right now we are in the midst of an amoral campaign by the liberal Democrats to convert or demonize those who do not convert to their twisted christianity.
The USA is in need of a moral house cleaning!

John Kerry is...
... a turd and a traitor that should be flushed down the sewer. He has taken to his old ways and is once again insulting and slandering our troops as he did back in 1971 as an agent for the north Vietnamese communists. See my Vietnam Vets Against John Kerry blog page for other info. I have some sections of the amendments to the constitution, federal law, and the UCMJ that apply to Kerry. If all are as listed, Kerry must be prosecuted as a traitor, and we have gross dereliction of duty by other federal bureaucrats for not carrying out this prosecution.
Thanks and a hat tip to Saul Anuzis "That's Saul Folks!" and Rob Hruska (via email) for the picture.
Here is how some of those troops reacted to Kerry's insult:
Sen. Kerry: "You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't you get stuck in Iraq." (NBC 4's Website, www.nbc4.tv, Accessed 10/31/06)
"Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said," said Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr., running for Senate in Tennessee.
"Sen. Kerry's remarks were poorly worded and just plain stupid," said Montana Senate President Jon Tester, a Democrat trying to unseat GOP Sen. Conrad Burns. "He owes our troops and their families an apology."
The White House didn't back down from its call for a Kerry apology. White House press secretary Tony Snow said Kerry "put gasoline on the fire" of an already sizzling midterm election campaign. And the Republican National Committee released a Web ad, to be e-mailed to GOP activists and state party officials, called "Apologize."
"Sen. Kerry may have botched the line, but what he said was insulting to the troops, and what he ought to say is, 'Look, I botched the line, but I'm sorry for giving offense,' " Snow said on CBS's "The Early Show."
Ann Coulter: John Kerry is the "botched joke" of American politics. For those of you keeping score at home, John Kerry has now called members of the U.S. military (a) stupid, (b) crazy, (c) murderers, (d) rapists, (e) terrorizers of Iraqi women and children. I wonder what he'll call them tomorrow. Whatever Karl Rove is paying John Kerry to say stupid things, it's worth every penny.
[Kerry is now trying to pass it off as a joke that came out wrong... Mr VVAW Kerry is dodging and weaving and has his party setting up a heavy spin cycle for him.]

John Kerry: U.S. Soldiers Not 'Smart'
Sen. John Kerry has sparked outrage by suggesting that U.S. troops in Iraq are uneducated and not "smart.”
At a campaign event for California gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides at Pasadena City College on Monday, the Massachusetts Democrat and Vietnam veteran said: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
Kerry’s troop-bashing remarks belie the truth about the educational level of U.S. troops. According to figures readily available on the Internet, 99.9 percent of the enlisted forces have at least a high school education, 73.3 percent have some college, 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours, and 4.7 have a bachelor’s degree.
What’s more, over 85 percent of field grade officers have advanced degrees – 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.
"Senator Kerry not only owes an apology to those who are serving, but also to the families of those who’ve given their lives in this,” White House press secretary Tony Snow said regarding Kerry’s remarks.
"This is an absolute insult.”
Sen. John McCain, another Vietnam veteran, also called on Kerry to apologize, saying: "The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq is an insult to every soldier serving in combat.”

Sen. John Kerry: 'I Apologize to No One'
Sen. John Kerry has refused to apologize for his remarks suggesting that U.S. troops in Iraq are uneducated and not "smart,” instead charging that the White House has deliberately misconstrued his comments.
At a Tuesday afternoon press conference in Seattle, Kerry said "I apologize to no one” for what he categorized as criticism of the Bush administration’s Iraq war policy.
Kerry touched off a storm of protest when he told a college audience on Monday that "if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
The comments drew demands for an apology from Sen. John McCain, the National Commander of The American Legion, and others. White House press secretary Tony Snow called Kerry’s statement "an absolute insult.”
But at his press conference, Kerry tried to give his remarks a tortuous spin, saying in effect that what he meant was if you’re like President Bush and you don’t do your homework – listen to advice from others – before committing American troops, "you end up in Iraq.”

American Legion to Kerry: Apologize Now
The National Commander of The American Legion called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for suggesting that American troops in Iraq are uneducated.
"As a constituent of Senator Kerry's I am disappointed. As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged," said National Commander Paul A. Morin.
The commander said the callous comments by Kerry ripped open wounds caused by previous comments made during the Vietnam War, when Kerry returned to the United States and accused U.S. military of unspeakable atrocities against civilians in southeast Asia.
"A generation ago, Sen. Kerry slandered his comrades in Vietnam by saying that they were rapists and murderers. It wasn't true then and his warped view of today's heroes isn't true now."
