Rush Limbaugh Sparks Liberal Jihad

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has urged senators to sign a letter calling on Rush Limbaugh’s syndicator to repudiate Rush for calling troops who speak out against the Iraq war “phony soldiers.”

But Rush counterattacked by pointing out that Reid took that comment drastically out of context.

In a statement prepared for delivery on the Senate floor Monday, Nevada Democrat Reid also asked Mark P. Mays, CEO of Clear Channel Communications, to ask Limbaugh to apologize for the remark.

Reid asserted that Limbaugh “crossed the line by calling our men and women in uniform who oppose the war in Iraq ‘phony soldiers.’ This comment was so beyond the pale of decency that it cannot be left alone…

“On Friday, many Democrats joined me in drafting a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel.”

That letter read in part: “Our troops are righting and dying to bring to others the freedoms that many take for granted. It is unconscionable that Mr. Limbaugh would criticize them for exercising the fundamentally American right to free speech…

“We call on you to publicly repudiate these comments … and ask Mr. Limbaugh to apologize for his comments.”

The fact is, Limbaugh pointed out on the air that the “phony soldiers” he referred to were just that – Americans who falsely claim they have been in the Armed Forces and in some cases say they have been to Iraq.

He was specifically referring to Jesse Macbeth, who appeared in a widely seen YouTube video in which he claimed he had been a corporal serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded a Purple Heart. His comments were translated into Arabic and spread widely across the Internet.

But it was all a lie, Rush said. He had never served in Iraq or Afghanistan. In fact, he had been discharged from the Army after several weeks of basic training.

“I was talking about one soldier with that phony soldier comment, Jesse Macbeth,” Rush told his listeners.

“He was sentenced to five months in jail and three years probation for falsifying a Department of Veterans Affairs claim and his Army discharge record.

“Jesse Macbeth was in the Army, folks, briefly. Forty-four days before he washed out of boot camp. Jesse Macbeth isn’t an Army Ranger. Never was. He isn’t a corporal, never was. He never won a Purple Heart, and he was never in combat to witness the horrors he claimed to have seen.”

Rush’s Web site titled the transcript of one of the broadcasts in which he responded to the liberal outcry over his comment “The Anatomy of a Smear: ‘Phony Soldiers’ is a Phony Story.”

White House invites several in Congress daily to push new secret amnesty -- Please Expose & Oppose

DEAR OPPONENTS OF REWARDING ILLEGAL ALIENS WITH AMNESTY AND U.S. CITIZENSHIP,

Your NumbersUSA Capitol Hill Team has brought extremely disturbing news to me over the night.

But it now makes sense of extraordinarily shocking remarks made by the Bush Administration to the American Legion convention on Monday -- just before I delivered my presentation. (I'll tell you more about that lower in this email.)

THE WHITE HOUSE STORY IN BRIEF

The story from the White House is not yet entirely clear to us -- or to our allies in Congress. But this is what is emerging:

While the media (and all of us activists) have been mostly focused on blocking Sen. Kennedy's latest (yet-unveiled) amnesty, Karl Rove and his White House crew have been shuttling Senators and Representatives in and out almost non-stop trying to build momentum for THEIR newly hatched attempt at an amnesty.

The groups trekking to the White House are mostly Republican but are including Democrats, too.

We are told that at least a few supposedly anti-amnesty Members of Congress have already given their approval to this new White House plan. Their willingness to do so is reportedly because the White House argues that new features make it possible to give illegal aliens citizenship without distracted voters recognizing that it is an amnesty.

Among the features appear to be echoes of the "step-out-step-in" portion of the Pence Amnesty plan from last year where at some point illegal aliens have crossed the border for a few hours or days before coming back in and applying for a path to citizenship.

Although the White House is not saying so directly, it appears that it plans to have a massive increase in annual green cards in order to accommodate the step-out-step-in citizenship applicants.

The White House is preying on the fear of many Members of Congress that if they don't soon pass something that looks like a solution to the 12 million illegal aliens, they will suffer political fallout.

Only you can make them more fearful of endorsing anything that allows illegal aliens to remain permanently in this country.

We must stop any momentum that may already have developed for introducing this.

Your own Members may already have given at least a tentative pledge of support.

1. Tell them you know about the constant meetings at the White House to sell Members on the new Bush amnesty plan. And that you have heard that a number of Members have already pledged their support for the amnesty.

2. Ask them if the Senator/Representative (of this office) has been one of the endorsers.

3. Tell them why a step-out-step-in provision in no way should ever qualify an illegal alien for a path to U.S. citizenship.

4. Ask that if the Senator/Representative has not yet been to the White House that they not give the White House any encouragement to continue with its amnesty plan.

5. Make it clear that no matter how many steps and provisions are created, anything that allows an illegal alien to remain in this country indefinitely or permanently is an amnesty and will be opposed by the majority of voters in your district.

6. Talk about any other information from this Action Alert that concerns you.

One reason we know that your phone calls and faxes are so powerful is by the efforts the White House and others make to try to argue that their proposals aren't "amnesties."

Obviously, that is what propels the laughable idea of having illegal aliens leave our country by a few feet and then come back in to get their path to citizenship.

ADMINISTRATION INSULTS THE AMERICAN LEGION, AMERICAN FAMILIES AND AMERICAN WORKERS

The American Legion is a giant and powerful organization of around 3 million veterans who served during a time of war.

I am not aware of any other such large national organization that has come even close to the Legion in standing with the American public against illegal immigration. Not Big Business, not Big Labor, not Big Religion, Not Big Media, Not Big Environmentalism, Not Big Rights Groups, Not Big Politics.

But the American Legion in recent years has adopted at least eight resolutions that make up the key components of ATTRITION THROUGH ENFORCEMENT & SELF-DEPORTATION. (No amnesty, no instate tuititon, no matricula consular, yes to the fence, yes to mandatory workplace verification, yes to immigration enforcement by local police, yes to military on the border.)

Nonetheless, the Legion has never thrown the full muscle of its considerable lobbying power behind immigration efforts. So, it was a very good sign that for the first time ever, the Legion devoted a whole afternoon at its national convention this week to the subject of immigration. (I am asking all of you veterans to join me in encouraging the Legion to make stopping both the Kennedy and the Bush amnesties a top priority this spring. I'll be giving you special opportunities.)

Representing the Bush Administration during the immigration event was Alfonso Aguilar from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

In essence, he let the American Legion know that the Bush Administration regards the Legion's solutions as naive and unworkable.

Aguilar said the Administration agrees on the need for a secure border and tougher enforcement against employers. But refusal to give citizenship to the 12 million illegal aliens already here is a threat to national security, he said.

Besides, he said, America desperately needs foreign workers.

Why?

Because "we have American families not having kids." Aguilar's arguments paralleled the insulting comments one often finds on radical leftist and ethnic blogs in which America's citizens are described as increasingly aging, impotent and helpless people who don't have enough strength or smarts to continue to run their country -- and not enough passion for having their own country to keep it.

Aguilar said all over America he hears businesses say that Americans aren't having enough kids to provide a workfoce.

"To think we could keep our economy going on native-born Americans is totally unrealistic," the Administration spokesman said.

That is why the Administration is pushing to turn illegal aliens into "guest workers," he said.

Looking into the sea of American Legion hats, he told the veterans that if they backed strong border security without offering legal status to illegal aliens they would be suporting an insecure American in which 12 million illegal aliens would be living in the shadows without our knowing who they are.

Aguilar left before I spoke, along with Kris Kobach, Mark Krikorian and John Fonte.

Kobach (with deep experience in anti-terrorism in the Justice Department, and now law professor) said the Bush Administration he served is totaly wrong that bringing illegal aliens out of the shadows would guarantee that we know who they really are. Rather, it would simply mean that we know what names they have given us. He noted that one of the illegal aliens brought out of the shadows by the 1986 amnesty went on to plot the first World Trade Center bombing. Amnesty just makes it possible for illegal alien terrorists to easily travel back and forth to other countries to plan their acts of terror, he said.

When my turn came, I urged the Legion to stick with its solution of ATTRITION THROUGH ENFORCEMENT. And I decried the Administration spokesman's insult of American families as being too impotent to continue our economy. In fact, I said, native-born Americans are having almost exactly the number of babies it takes to replace retiring and dying workers.

I also lamented Aguilar's insult of native-born American workers, declaring them entirely up to the task of doing the jobs that Americans and the American economy needs.

Nonetheless, I was shocked that the Bush Administration had chosen to speak so insensitively to the national, state and regional leaders of our nation's veterans. But learning tonight of the aggressive efforts of the White House with Members of Congress right now, I better understand:

Massive new flows of foreign workers is once again a top priority of the Bush Administration.

Not only must American workers and families and veterans suffer the congestion, wage depression and quality of life deterioration due to this foreign flood, but they will have to subsidize them with higher and higher taxes.

While the Bush Administration shortchanges veterans programs and health care, it continues to force higher and higher tax transfers to the care of foreign workers. I noted to the Legion that Robert Rector of Heritage Foundation has found that the lifetime net taxpayer subsidy for the high school drop-outs among the foreign workers already here will be around ONE TRILLION DOLLARS. Not BILLION but TRILLION.

We can save half that by denying amnesty to the illegal aliens and slowly causing them to go back home.

American workers, please stand up for yourselves.

American families, please stand up for yourselves.

American veterans, please stand up for yourselves.

When the Bush White House began leaking plans for an amnesty for all Mexican illegal aliens in summer of 2001, our protests stopped it.

When Pres. Bush announced in January of 2004 that one of his top priorities would be turning 12 million illegal aliens into "guest workers" who might or might not ever have to leave, our protests stopped him.

When the White House feverishly sought "comprehensive immigration reform" in 2006, our protests stopped it.

The key has been to mount quick and massive protest to each sign of the White House making a priority of its amnesty compulsion.

When you call, tell the White House and your Members of Congress that you stand with the American Legion and its proposals for ATTRITION THROUGH ENFORCEMENT & SELF-DEPORTATION.

Tell them you resent the Bush Administration's implications at the American Legion convention that American workers and American families aren't up to the task of keeping this country going.

The White House and its allies on the Hill believe that you will eventually grow weary and stop paying attention. Give them all a wake up call at the switchboard today.

The Gateway Pundit and other have coverage of the latest Kerry antics...

Kerry is back over in Iraq making some juicy photo ops.

"Jon Carry" [wimp] will not be visiting these Minnesota National Guard troops [warriors] still deployed on a base in Talil, Iraq.

It looks to me like 'jon carry' is looking for a way to spit polish his pitted, tarnished image before announcing his intent to have a go at the presidency again. His hide will be a little thicker this time around but the Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry are still here. Jon wants to somehow be an anti-war protester - pro-war hawk. He had it both ways on every topic last time and he will try to do it again. That is how he laughingly became known as "Flipper".

John Kerry is...

... a turd and a traitor that should be flushed down the sewer. He has taken to his old ways and is once again insulting and slandering our troops as he did back in 1971 as an agent for the north Vietnamese communists. See my Vietnam Vets Against John Kerry blog page for other info. I have some sections of the amendments to the constitution, federal law, and the UCMJ that apply to Kerry. If all are as listed, Kerry must be prosecuted as a traitor, and we have gross dereliction of duty by other federal bureaucrats for not carrying out this prosecution.

Here is how some of those troops reacted to Kerry's insult:

"Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said," said Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr., running for Senate in Tennessee.

"Sen. Kerry's remarks were poorly worded and just plain stupid," said Montana Senate President Jon Tester, a Democrat trying to unseat GOP Sen. Conrad Burns. "He owes our troops and their families an apology."

The White House didn't back down from its call for a Kerry apology. White House press secretary Tony Snow said Kerry "put gasoline on the fire" of an already sizzling midterm election campaign. And the Republican National Committee released a Web ad, to be e-mailed to GOP activists and state party officials, called "Apologize."

"Sen. Kerry may have botched the line, but what he said was insulting to the troops, and what he ought to say is, 'Look, I botched the line, but I'm sorry for giving offense,' " Snow said on CBS's "The Early Show."

Ann Coulter: John Kerry is the "botched joke" of American politics. For those of you keeping score at home, John Kerry has now called members of the U.S. military (a) stupid, (b) crazy, (c) murderers, (d) rapists, (e) terrorizers of Iraqi women and children. I wonder what he'll call them tomorrow. Whatever Karl Rove is paying John Kerry to say stupid things, it's worth every penny.

[Kerry is now trying to pass it off as a joke that came out wrong... Mr VVAW Kerry is dodging and weaving and has his party setting up a heavy spin cycle for him.]

John Kerry: U.S. Soldiers Not 'Smart'

Sen. John Kerry has sparked outrage by suggesting that U.S. troops in Iraq are uneducated and not "smart.”

At a campaign event for California gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides at Pasadena City College on Monday, the Massachusetts Democrat and Vietnam veteran said: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Kerry’s troop-bashing remarks belie the truth about the educational level of U.S. troops. According to figures readily available on the Internet, 99.9 percent of the enlisted forces have at least a high school education, 73.3 percent have some college, 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours, and 4.7 have a bachelor’s degree.

What’s more, over 85 percent of field grade officers have advanced degrees – 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.

"Senator Kerry not only owes an apology to those who are serving, but also to the families of those who’ve given their lives in this,” White House press secretary Tony Snow said regarding Kerry’s remarks.

"This is an absolute insult.”

Sen. John McCain, another Vietnam veteran, also called on Kerry to apologize, saying: "The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq is an insult to every soldier serving in combat.”

Sen. John Kerry: 'I Apologize to No One'

Sen. John Kerry has refused to apologize for his remarks suggesting that U.S. troops in Iraq are uneducated and not "smart,” instead charging that the White House has deliberately misconstrued his comments.

At a Tuesday afternoon press conference in Seattle, Kerry said "I apologize to no one” for what he categorized as criticism of the Bush administration’s Iraq war policy.

Kerry touched off a storm of protest when he told a college audience on Monday that "if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

The comments drew demands for an apology from Sen. John McCain, the National Commander of The American Legion, and others. White House press secretary Tony Snow called Kerry’s statement "an absolute insult.”

But at his press conference, Kerry tried to give his remarks a tortuous spin, saying in effect that what he meant was if you’re like President Bush and you don’t do your homework – listen to advice from others – before committing American troops, "you end up in Iraq.”

American Legion to Kerry: Apologize Now

The National Commander of The American Legion called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for suggesting that American troops in Iraq are uneducated.

"As a constituent of Senator Kerry's I am disappointed. As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged," said National Commander Paul A. Morin.

The commander said the callous comments by Kerry ripped open wounds caused by previous comments made during the Vietnam War, when Kerry returned to the United States and accused U.S. military of unspeakable atrocities against civilians in southeast Asia.

"A generation ago, Sen. Kerry slandered his comrades in Vietnam by saying that they were rapists and murderers. It wasn't true then and his warped view of today's heroes isn't true now."

Are you a legal immigrant, Siraj Alyami?

First lets be very clear about something. We welcome LEGAL immigrants, and there are safety nets in place to aid them.

Unfortunately the system has been perverted by a large number of well meaning but misguided individuals who think that the wealth of the USA should be spread across the world. Lacking the means to do that, they feel that the world should be allowed to come here illegally to partake of the benefits. Some of these liberal minded persons even want to make this charity permanent by allowing the worlds destitute peoples to obtain citizenship. Aparently they think the USA is a large Department of Social Services.

And now for a dose of reality...

We do not want illegal aliens to assimilate and assume that they have a franchise in the USA. Their act of coming here illegally has removed any right to assume that we would grant them this largesse. The do-gooders have set other means to let illegal aliens sink an anchor here by installing the "anchor baby" provision in the immigration law and then giving the illegals a legal standing in a US court to challenge our laws. Nowhere else in the world can illegals claim a legal position in a country by breeding like cockroaches. The fact that there are a large number of them in hiding that are long term inhabitants, means that the most severe criminal penalties must ramp upward for them. The longer you have been here breaking our laws, the more severe the punishment. Jorge Boosh and his RINO squad have it bass-ackwards. By their plan, the longer a criminal has hid out, the bigger the reward they receive. (Super-citizen status, with priveleges a legal US citizen or legal immigrant can only dream of.) Do not forget the Democrats... they ALL want amnesty for illegal aliens. That is why Jorge and the RINOs are such a potent force on this subject.

"One solution that does not involve amnesty and does not reward illegal behavior would be to require all persons in the United States illegally to work for the the Department of Defense before getting citizenship."

Sir, you obviously do not get it.

• They are here ILLEGALLY.

[United States Code, Title 8, Chapter 12, Subchapter II, Part VIII, Section 1325, states: Any alien who enters the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be fined or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.]

• Allowing them to stay and then to be given a government job is a REWARD for illegal behavior!

• Following that, you suggest they again be rewarded with citizenship (and by simple deduction although you did not mention it, Social Security) for their government service.

This is a massive injustice to the legal immigrants and those who are now trying to immigrate legally to the USA. Anything less than prosecution by our law enforcement agencies and deportation for illegal immigration is AMNESTY for breaking the laws of the USA.

We need our president to stop equivocating, quit protecting illegal aliens. Instead protect citizens and act to protect our borders. If President Eisenhower could do it, so can George Bush with the laws already on the books. NO NEW LEGISLATION IS NECESSARY!

We elected George Bush and got El Presidente Jorge Boosh.

No Amnesty - GOT IT? Deport illegal aliens! Close the "anchor baby" loop hole!

Do not expect any real action on illegal immigration out of the Jorge Boosh presidency. He is a lame duck and can only be harmed by impeachment. Nothing less will get his absolute attention. Jorge loves the status quo.
