Obama and NASCAR
NASCAR has been edging toward politics since it was noted that a majority of "NASCAR-dads" are conservative which used to translate as Republican.
While poking around the WIKIO politics section I spotted this article. Seems that NASCAR's BAM Racing Team has offered Barrack Hussein Obama a chance at NASCAR racing respectability as a car/team sponsor. Just imagine, a picture of the Obamessiah on the hood, roof, and trunk of the race car giving everyone his liberal blessing as he roars around the track in a constant left turn. This would be a natural for a leftist/socialist like Barry as he is always turning left naturally.
Just like bowling, racing is not in Obama's blood and the offer was turned down.

Obama passes on potential NASCAR sponsorship
by Chris Jenkins, AP Writer
JOLIET, Ill. (Map, News) - NASCAR's BAM Racing team has presented Barack Obama's presidential campaign with a potential sponsorship deal in the Sprint Cup series later this year, but it doesn't look like an Obama car will be burning rubber on the track anytime soon.
BAM team spokesman Rhett Vandiver told The Associated Press on Friday that the team made a sponsorship proposal to the Democratic presidential hopeful's campaign, and has made similar proposals to the campaign of Republican John McCain and at least one third-party candidate.
Late Friday, the Obama campaign said there would be no sponsorship.
"The Obama campaign will not be sponsoring a car in the Sprint Cup series, though we will continue to look for ways to reach out to voters and convey Senator Obama's message of change." said Bill Burton, an Obama campaign spokesman.

Looks like BAM Racing might take a sponsorship from the devil if they could figure out how to contact him.

Iditarod - Mackey is first into Ruby
Mackey first into Ruby checkpoint of Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race
By RACHEL D'ORO, AP Writer
RUBY, Alaska (AP)—A very tired Lance Mackey was the first musher to arrive at the Ruby checkpoint of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
Village bells were ringing as he pulled into this Yukon River outpost about 7:30 a.m. Friday. It took him more than 10 hours to cover the 112 miles to Ruby from Cripple.
Mackey plans to take one of his two mandatory eight-hour breaks in Ruby.
For being first into Ruby, he wins a seven-course meal, prepared by a chef flown in from Anchorage.
Mackey also wins $5,000 in $1 bills.

Mayweather over Hatton - EASILY!
Some media palooka clown named Mayo (or something like that) was trying to say that Mayweather was in trouble before the start tonight because of changes in Floyd's training routine. Floyd Jr is the rightfull owner of the WBC welterweight title!
Floyd Mayweather Jr dominated the whole fight which brings into question the caliber of fighters that Hatton has faced in England to go undefeated until tonight!
In the 10th, Hatton's corner threw in the towel at 1:35 after the second knockdown from two left jabs and a hard, solid right cross that deflated Hatton's sails.
Hattons style is more suited to the WWE. He may have to put on a few pounds and come back as a professional wrestler. While Floyd was there to box, Hatton wanted to grapple. This was a boxing match, not a mixed martial arts exhibition.
The three judges scored it 89-81, 89-81, and 88-82 for Mayweather at the time that Hatton's side signalled defeat.
My thought for today: Sugar Ray Leonard was the best of his time and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is on the same track.
I have never met Floyd, but I admire him greatly. I hope that Floyd Sr is proud of his son.

Green Bay 37, Detroit 26
Once again the Detroit LIdowNS lose a football game, third in the string of losses. This time the Packers sent them into the locker room in defeat. Actually the score doesnt tell the whole story because Detroit got on the board early, causing fans to think that maybe, just maybe, this was the game to end the losing streak. NOPE! The wildcard possibility is slipping away. Will this be another year of ho-hum, who cares which team wins in the Super Bowl, because neither team playing is from Detroit?
It is already looking that way.
I have gotten to the point that I do not really root for a team anymore (except during baseball season for the perennial losing team, the Chicago Cubs. Win or lose the cubbies are entertaining. Same for the Grand Rapids Whitecaps.).
My dream World Series:
vs.
with
the Cubbies winning.

Tiger's A game proved to much for the course in Atlanta
Tiger grabbed the course by the throat and never let it go. The Fedex Cup has the name Tiger Woods engraved on it. The $10 million annuity is deposited to his name in case he should ever need it (doubtfull). Tiger (23 under) ran away from the rest of the field and never looked back. The only real buzz after that was if someone might capture sole second place. Second was shared by Zach Johnson and Mark Calcavecchia with very respectable scores of 15 under. Sergio Garcia scored -14 for posession of the third place.
Where did Kryptonite score after taking last week off? Phil shot 68,66,70,71 for 5 under. The "week off" trick didn't work for Phil. Tiger said he needed the time off to rest and recharge. Tiger came out to WIN! Sorry Phil, Tiger got his kryptonite booster shot and has developed an immunity!

Tiger's FedExCup Runneth Over
This was the first time Woods walked away from one tournament with two trophies.
Along with winning the TOUR Championship and its $1.26 million prize, Woods was a runaway winner of the FedEx Cup and the $10 million that goes into his retirement account.
PGA TOUR commissioner Tim Finchem first presented Woods with the crystal trophy from the TOUR Championship. Before handing him the FedEx Cup trophy, Finchem alluded to the TOUR's promotion of the FedExCup by noting it had never been kissed.
And it still hasn't.
Woods simply held it aloft as the thousands around 18th green cheered.

No kryptonite at the BMW tournament
by James Foley
Mickelson took the week off after beating Tiger at the Deutsche Bank Championship. At the BMW, Tiger made a come from behind (in the final 9 holes) win on Sunday to snatch victory from Aaron "Bads" Baddeley (Bads at -20, Tiger at -22) by two strokes. This moves Tiger into first place in the FedEx Cup. I've said it before, I dont think Tiger has the competetive juices flowing all the time. He has to be goaded into a winning mindset. Ask Rory Sabbatini what happened after a comment he made. After 60 career wins since turning pro, is Tiger getting tired? Do not take me the wrong way... I have been a fan of Tiger for a long time. I wish some of the talent he has put away would rub off in my direction.
I am not good enough to consider myself a duffer on the course. I am a hacker on the golf course and greatly enjoy the game, no formal lessons. I just picked up the clubs and started swinging. I play with a semi-Natural Golf type swing, and play every chance I get. When I cant play, I still hit some balls in the back yard with the wedges (my lot is 450 feet deep). I dream of having one of those artificial turf putting greens installed and maybe a beach sand filled bunker to practice from. The putting green should even have heating elements so I could practice in the winter.... ahhh just the dreams of a golfing retiree.
I also will continue to prod Tiger.

Is Lefty the kryptonite for Tiger?
Phil Mickelson held off Tiger in a fashion to suggest that Tiger has lost that thing... the "Eye of the Tiger"? Has he lost his edge? He has not seemed to be the same since Earl died. He has everything else... hundreds of millions in the bank, a trophy wife, a new baby to occupy his primary interests.
A confident Phil Mickelson strides up the fairway, followed by a dejected looking Tiger...
The difference in their games was largely on the greens. Mickelson took only 11 putts on the front nine, including a 12-foot par save on the sixth when he flew the green. Woods had 17 putts, the longest he made was 4 feet for par on the third hole.
