Q: Why are so many Republican Senators openly championing illegal immigration, that is anathema to the conservative base of the party?

A: [1] They have never been truly beholden to the base except at election time. They have been biding their time until enough of their large biz coalition could be assembled at once to be able to push their view of how the USA should be run... Royalty and Peasants. [2] They are corrupt politicians that know where the money is coming from that lines their pockets.

I don't mention the Democrat side of the senate [but do silently include them] because it is a given that the Democrats (with a few exceptions such as Senator Stabenow) are traitors and it is beating a dead horse to belabor the fact.
