VIPRE - AntiVirus and AntiSpyware rolled in one [updated]

[12-5-2008 UPDATE: I now have VIPRE and SPF running on all noted computers and it looks like a super combination. I may be buying a site license to put it on ALL my computers.]

[11-30-2008] This past week, I received an email from Sunbelt Software about their new AntiVirus/AntiSpyware package called VIPRE with an upgrade special offer for CountrSpy users. Since the server here on my home network is/was protected by CounterSpy I decided to upgrade and bought a special package price for 3 licenses for computers on my home network... VIPRE seems to be a small footprint combination program.

I am getting varied results so far.

License [1] - is on my home network webserver, a WinXP Pro sp2 box. The upgrade/install appeared to go just dandy. It recognized that I had Counterspy and wiped it out to install in its place. I installed the key and did the registration.

All seemed well until less than an hour later, VIPRE just shut down.

Hmmm... I looked over the installed but inactive programs. I had already uninstalled AVG and Spybot S&D but found that I still had AVG AntiRootkit so it went away.

A reboot brought VIPRE back online, at which time I decided to do a quick scan. All seemed ot go okay with no problems found.

Then VIPRE shut down again. When VIPRE shuts down, the tray symbol turns red. When you right click it, options come up for various things. Selecting ANY of them causes the computer to freeze. A hardware reset (button on the box) is the only way to reset it at this point. I rebooted and decided to try to do a full deep scan. The computer churned on with VIPRE scanning deeply for over 4 hours. Then the VIPRE tray symbol changed from green to red once again with the scan incomplete, the program stopped. Trying to bring up the main VIPRE screen to see what it shows freezes the computer.

Another hard reset and I decide to reinstall AVG and Spybot S&D until I can get information on any means of debugging this from Sunbelt Software. Unfortunately, Counterspy is gone due to the "upgrade" and that the license for it had expired. The license [1] may wind up on one of my wireless boxes on my network if I can not get it to work on the server.

UPDATE: The problem was a conflict between VIPRE and the Comodo Pro firewall. I have changed over to the Sunbelt Personal Firewall and all is running smoothely with VIPRE now. Thanks Alex!

License [2] - is on my WinXP Home edition equipped laptop and that appears to be cruising along nicely. So far, no freezes or any other problem noted on the laptop. Also now equipped with SPF (Sunbelt Personal Firewall).

License [3] - is going on my livingroom computer this afternoon. update: It has been installed and is running fine. Also now equipped with SPF (Sunbelt Personal Firewall).

Islamic Terorists Celebrate Election of B. Hussein Obama

Terrorists have shown their support for Obama with a warm up in India for a direct strike to the US later in 2009 (as predicted by Vice Fuhrer-elect Biden). It has been reported that they were targeting US civilians in India, where they have available sleeper cells to supply the suicidal man power. The number of Islamists in the USA is increasing and once it tips past a certain point (available bomb carriers here), we will be the next target. I expect that they will start with car bombs though, because of the availability of cars and bomb making components. Easing the way for the terror squads here in this country is an agreement between Fuhrer-elect Obama and his henchman John McCain on opening the borders with an amnesty. Will McCain become the Heinrich Himmler of the 21st century? He appears ready to drop to his kness and perform any act to gain Obama's approval!

Wave of Terror Attacks Strikes India's Mumbai, Killing at Least 82

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Several sites in Mumbai, India's financial capital, were hit Wednesday night by a wave of terror attacks, reportedly aimed at Americans and Britons, that left dozens dead and potentially hundreds injured as Indian forces battled with terrorist gunmen to free hostages from two luxury hotels.

Several staff members were killed at the Taj Mahal hotel, and India's NDTV reported Thursday morning that gunfire still was erupting as part of an ongoing "desperate hostage situation" there, with three or four terrorists inside. Earlier, some of the hostages were rescued when a fire broke out.

Gunmen reportedly had taken hostages elsewhere in the city, including the Oberoi hotel and a hospital, though the status at those locations wasn't immediately clear as dawn broke.

Casualty figures varied, with the Associated Press reporting at least 82 dead. Reuters reported 86 people were killed, including 11 police officers, and 250 people were injured. The Associated Press, quoting a senior police official, said the chief of India's anti-terror squad was one of the dead. (Celebration inside the Obamamania media camp notably Al Jazeera, Al Reuters, and Al AP, has quietly broken out. The rest of the Obama camp is trying to hold a lid on things.)

Of the gunmen, at least six were dead and nine had been arrested, according to the Associated Press (part of the Obamamania Media). Didja notice how they carefully said terrorist gunmen and not ISLAMIC TERRORISTS? It is the same way throughout the MSM.

1. Obama's "hold out your hand to everyone" foreign policy is going to be a catastrophe. They'll love it in Europe. They're probably laughing their heads off about it in the Middle East already.

2. The US hasn't suffered a terrorist attack by al Qaeda since 9/11, but we'll get at least one during Obama's term.

3. We're going to lose in Afghanistan.

4. Iran will get nuclear weapons. There will be nuclear war between Iran and Israel. (This is the only irreversibly terrible thing I see upcoming, and it's very bad indeed.)

A friend emailed Mr. Beste’s article to me and, after reading it, I thought I would pass it on to my readers.

There are, indeed, some critical times ahead for the US. There is no doubt about it. Mr. Beste has given us things to ponder over the next few months as we wait out the end of Mr. Obama’s term in office.

During that time, however, conservatives are going to have to decide the route they intend to take to remain a force in American politics. It is more than a little obvious that remaining in the GOP and expecting to be a movement to “be reckoned with” is now out of the question. We have, for all intents and purposes, been told to “sit down and shut up,” or, get out. Many of us have chosen to become Independent Conservatives until such time as a viable Conservative Party can be organized to promote our ideology. That may be a long time coming. I am not detecting movement in that direction and the lack of motivation toward that end troubles me greatly.

There comes a time in any effort when you reach the point of diminishing returns. It appears, at least to me, that conservative efforts within the GOP have reached that point. For evidence one only has to consider the manner in which the GOP campaigned during both the election cycles of 2006 and 2008. Both those campaigns underscored the GOP’s snubbing of the conservative wing of the party.

It is time to stop crying in our beer and get off our collective behinds and get to work building a conservative party. The sooner… the better.

"One need look no further than a giddy Election-Day Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who stated his support for 'fair and balanced' talk radio, then equated conservative viewpoints with 'pornography. '”

          Specifically, Schumer told a FOX News reporter:

“Do you think we should allow people to put pornography on the air? Absolutely not. Particularly on television or radio.... The very same people who don’t want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] to limit pornography on the air.... That’s not consistent.”

          No Senator Schumer, the only thing "not consistent" here is you!

For years, liberals have forced taxpayers like us to subsidize depictions of Christ suspended in urine and pictures of men with bullwhips protruding from their rectums with our tax dollars. Ohio Inspector General Tom Charles said his office is now looking at a half-dozen agencies that accessed state records on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher.

The Beacon Journal has learned that, in addition to the Department of Job and Family Services, two other state offices — the Ohio Department of Taxation and Ohio Attorney General Nancy Rogers — conducted database searches of Joe the Plumber.

The [day after the third presidential debate], the taxation department conducted two separate searches of a database of liens for unpaid taxes that were certified to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for collection.

John Kohlstrand, a taxation department spokesman, said he is prohibited from talking about individual taxpayers, but he confirmed that the databases were checked.

Kohlstrand said that the AG's office wanted access to the records so they could turn over to the national media lien information that was a public record in Lucas County. He said the national media did not have reporters in Toledo, so the attorney general's office was helping them out with public records.

On the day following the two searches, the taxation department conducted a search of another in-house database that tracks cases and correspondence between taxpayers and the department before the liens being certified and turned over to the attorney general for collection.

Um, couldn't Joe have requested such a service himself? And doesn't the law specify he's required to actually request that, before government snoops go digging through his files and sending them to the media?

They were protecting Joe from the media, you see. By passing them the fruits of illegal private-records searches.

To ensure he wasn't being maligned.

By confirming their previous smears on him.

Saul Anuzis to run for RNC chairman position

Here is the text of a note I sent to Saul...

I am sorry to see you go from the helm of the party here in Michigan, Saul, but I understand that it is time to move onward and upward.

I have also seen a few names bandied about as seekers of the post.

As for the RNC position, I support you 100%. I see that Chuck Yob is also thinking of having a go at it and he represents all the things that have put the party into its funk now. For the past two election cycles he has boosted the side of the party that sought to include the left and centrist moderates into our politics. The Yobs and associates were pretty successful as the results of this election show. They included the Democrat operatives that boosted McCain until he was in the unassailable position as the GOP standard bearer.

With Yob as RNC chairman we can look forward to pandering to the centrists that do a one way reach across the aisle, bringing on many more years of political obscurity.

You have the background and internet experience to organize the party and get it back on a sound footing. GO FOR IT!

Rush Limbaugh had a montage of talking heads all speculating about how this was the re-establishment of Camrlot (the Kennedys).

• Jack Kennedy was a veteran of WW2 and a decorated war hero.

• Obama is a veteran Chicago street thug, socialist agitator, and was a drug user/dealer, inspired by William Ayers (terrorist) and Saul Alinski (communist).

Jack Kennedy was a warrior and hero. Barack Hussein Obama is neither a warrior nor a hero. Obama is a socialist wimp. Obama is anti-military and will put the country into a perilous position of military weakness. He will also leave our borders open and porous, as bad as now or worse. He is pro-amnesty, encouraging more illegals to stream across the border in company with OTM illegals (terrorists) who are seeking to harm this country.

BERLIN

They are making comparison to the wrong couple. Barack Hussein and Michelle Obama compare more closely to another couple who were national leaders, Adolph Hitler and Eva Braun. Both (Barack and Adolph) are/were thugs, surrounding themselves with thugs, and used race to sway people and gain power. Both are/were charismatic speakers that could hypnotize the listener.

• Adolph used civilian brownshirts as informers, to bring dissenters in line, and to act as his bully boys.

• Barack wants to empower a federally funded brownshirt squad of his own to bypass posse comitatus. (If you dont understand that, google it.)

Recently Charlie Rose and a media guest commented that no one really knows Barack Obama and what he stands for. We are about to find out the hard way.

Obama/Chicago does not equate or compare in any way with the Kennedys/Camelot.

WASHINGTON – President-elect Obama plans to use his executive powers to make an immediate impact when he takes office, perhaps reversing Bush administration policies on stem cell research and domestic drilling for oil and natural gas.

John Podesta, Obama's transition chief, said Sunday Obama is reviewing President Bush's executive orders on those issues and others as he works to undo policies enacted during eight years of Republican rule. He said the president can use such orders to move quickly on his own.

"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we'll see the president do that," Podesta said. "I think that he feels like he has a real mandate for change. We need to get off the course that the Bush administration has set."

We will have dictator for life, Barack Hussein Obama, backed by his Democrat politburo once they have controlled all avenues of dissent such as talk radio and the internet. Look for an executive declaration of an emergency to activate FEMA and put us under martial law. This will be his way to bypass posse comitatus. Seizures of legally held firearms will follow, triggering a civil war. Look for him to request the aid of UN forces... foreign troops on US soil. Then it will be a real civil war. lexisnexis or DHS?

I have been looking over my server logs and find that my blogs have been very well indexed by a crawler that identifies itself as "FAST Enterprise Crawler 6 used by LexisNexis (lnbot@lexisnexis.com)" using IP 208.68.138.5.

A WHOIS lookup says:

Host: dhs-outbound.bos3.fastsearch.net (is that DHS as in homeland security?)

OrgName: FAST Search & Transfer Inc

If it is lexisnexis then my blogs are very well indexed. I wonder if others with a harsh opinion of the politics of various policrooks over the past year or so are also being indexed?

Server backup - update

I am trying out Carbonite as a backup for my server and I noticed that it occasionally shuts down to be able to handle files that are in use/locked.

UPDATE: My server was crashing randomly while carbonite was installed. I uninstalled it and the crashes stopped. WinXP was not exiting cleanly but the screen would just go black while in the middle of something and reboot. Carbonite is GONE unless I get a satisfactory explanation from customer service.

Obama Derangement Syndrome - Payback

For the past 7 years the country have been treated to Bush derangement syndrome and various levels of vituperous hate speech and images of Bush.

Don't get me wrong... the chimpster images and stuff were hilarious. I have a cache of some of the pages. Bush is not a conservative though his supporters, the so called Bush Rangers, painted him that way (Compassionate Conservative). Conservatives have been suffering under the mis-application of the conservative description.

Now that we have a target that has so many faults, it would be a shame to pass on the opportunity to start an Obama Derangement Syndrome attack on the socialist Obama. Now that he is elected, I wonder if Pastor Wright will become the White House Chaplain? Then he can make pronouncements like
and "...our chickens are home to roost".

Our biggest trouble... we are not good at hating like the liberals are. It just seems to be part of their dna. The learning curve can be aided by looking back at how the socialists did it.

PHOENIX – Before resting from the grueling presidential race, John McCain began discussing with senior aides what role he will play in the Senate now that he has promised to work with the man who defeated him for president.

Democrats, who padded their majorities in the House and Senate, have a suggestion: McCain can mediate solutions to partisan standoffs on key legislation as he did to help avert a constitutional meltdown over judicial confirmations in 2005.

"There's a need for the old John McCain, a leader who worked in a bipartisan way," Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Wednesday.

It sounds to me like McCain is looking for a way to beg for some appointment from Obama for his role in this past election. McCain was the Democrat secret weapon this time around with the aid of willing country club Republicans. Since the Dems still do not have a bullet proof majority, they are counting on McCain to help provide extra votes for them.

But it was a landslide only in terms of the electoral college. By popular vote, there were over 55 million citizens that voted for McCain. If this had been the other way around, the socialists would have been crying for a change to eliminate the electoral college just as they did back in 2004.

In the clutch, the Democrats can always count on him as they did this time, to deliver the presidency to the Democrats by using the Bush-large-government Republicans as a Democrat campaign tool .

Talk Radio

Talk radio has proven itself to be so damaging to Democrats that it will be shut down. Chucky Schumer is already calling talk radio "pornography". The socialists are already making their moves.

Gun Control

The gun grabbers will appear on stage next. Remember, they campaign as moderates but swerve hard left to govern. Gun Control is part of their backbone agenda.

Hmmm... I wonder if the Dixie Twits will make a come back now? I wonder if part of the fairness doctrine will be that for every other artist played on a country station they will have to play a Dixie Twits song to make up for the past 4 years.

Obama is a acolyte of the radical 60s Students for Democratic Society (SDS) and the Weather Underground, both radical terrorist organizations, and has had direct political aid from William Ayers, one of the Weathermen terrorist bombers. [Q; What will Ayers be awarded as patronage for past service?]

Obama is a breed that JFK would not have recognized. Jack Kennedy fought against socialists in World War 2. The Nazis were the German Socialist Party, allied with the Japanese Imperialists and the Italian Fascists in WW2.

UPDATE: 5 Nov 2008 - President of the World-Elect Barack Hussein Obama - Starting in January 2009, the socialists take over the government. Thyis is truly a turn of events that will have Jack Kennedy spinning in his grave along with millions of servicemen that died fighting the Nazi socialists.
