Keith Butler says...

MICHIGAN POLITICS

US Senate candidate Keith Butler:

In his television ad he says "When I am in the senate, I won't be controlled by anyone! I'll follow my conscience."

[That "anyone" includes you, the voter. We should be used to that with two pro-amnesty Democrat senators who routinely ignore us. Considering that Keith is pro-amnesty (he favors allowing the illegals who are here to get citizenship) that is a big admission and is a good reason to vote for Mike Bouchard, the career law man.]

Pledge Protection Act HR 2389 - Note to Vern Ehlers (R-MI3)

Representative Ehlers,

I just received an email that lists the most recent votes by my Senators and Congressman.

You voted for the "Pledge Protection Act" HR 2389 to amend title 28, United States Code, with respect to the jurisdiction of Federal courts over certain cases and controversies involving the Pledge of Allegiance.

You voted to Protect the Pledge of Allegiance. Earlier you voted against the Flag Protection Amendment. In your view, people may urinate, defecate, and otherwise disrespect and physically destroy the symbol of the USA, but they must include the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. One seems to be an "in your face" attempt to rile citizens to extreme anger and the other seems to be a freedom of speech and choice issue.

Please explain to this Vietnam vet why!

You speak out of both sides of your mouth, saying different things!

[NOTE: I support both issues but I am trying to get at why Vern is so two faced.]

Keith Butler Watch - 19 days to the primary

Keith Butler is still maintaining his silence about deporting illegals. He makes all sorts of wild gyrations about how he is against amnesty (just like Bush, Frist, McCain, Brownback, Hagel, Martinez, et ilk) but steadfastly refuses to say that the long term illegals who have thumbed their noses at the law for many years must go. In truth, Keith is PRO-AMNESTY because he favors a PATH TO CITIZENSHIP for illegal aliens.

We do not want to replace one pro-amnesty senator ("Dangerously Incompetent" Debbie) with another who can not be honest about his position. Just like liberal Democrats, if he publicly announces his pro-citizenship for illegals, then he would not even have a prayer (other than his own as a Reverend). We need to be weeding out the pro-amnesty "bad apples" in the senate from our side of the aisle, and the Democrats need to reclaim their party from MoveOn/DailyKos/Dean and give the socialists a steel toed boot.

Sorry Keith! As a man of the cloth, your lack of candor is dissapointing and it disqualifies you as our candidate.

You might be good at Detroit politics, but we are not ready to inflict you on the USA.

Bouchard For US Senate!

Obama: The Godless must seduce the Evangelical Christians

Obama: Democrats must court evangelicals

The Detroit News-AP
to read the whole article!

By DAVID ESPO

AP Special Correspondent

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Barack Obama chastised fellow Democrats on Wednesday for failing to "acknowledge the power of faith in the lives of the American people," and said the party must compete for the support of evangelicals and other churchgoing Americans.

"Not every mention of God in public is a breach to the wall of separation. Context matters," the Illinois Democrat said in remarks to a conference of Call to Renewal, a faith-based movement to overcome poverty. [more]

[According to Democrats it is perfectly OKAY to use the word [damn] after HIS name by way of context. It will be interesting to see how Liberal Democrats weave together a scanario to mainstream their vision of Jesus the Homosexual Abortionist.]

Senate Joint Resolution 12 - The Flag Protection Amendment

The list of co-sponsors plus the official roll call vote of the senators

IT DID NOT PASS! One additional supporter was needed in the Senate. Check the list below. If your senator(s) are not on it, then they contributed to the downfall of the flag protection amendment. Debbie Stabenow supported it. Debbie is up for re-election. Carl Levin voted against. Carl is not up for re-election. Just shows how plastic our legislators are.... Remember!

Keith Butler Watch...

Over the past month or so, I have been tracking the evolution of Keith Butler and his shifting position on illegal aliens since I talked to his spokeman, Greenlee.

I must say that he has really hardened up his position. In my latest message on his web contact form, I ask what he would do with the illegals who are here ahead of those immigrants that want to do it legally.

[ ] Path to citizenship (aka AMNESTY)

[ ] Deportation

I am awaiting a reply from him or a spokesman.

From Vern Ehlers... OK to desecrate the flag!

Vern Says:

It is okay to desecrate the flag. You don't believe it? Read his letter to me!

15 June 2006

Dear Mr. Foley ,

I want to thank you for your recent communication regarding a proposed Constitutional amendment to ban flag desecration. I appreciate your taking the time to pass on your thoughts.

The House of Representatives recently passed H.J.Res. 10, which proposes a Constitutional Amendment that would allow Congress to enact legislation to prohibit desecration of the flag. I voted against it, as I have consistently done in the past.

I am saddened and upset by those who choose to desecrate our country's flag. It sickens me whenever I see protesters set fire to the flag in an attempt to convey a particular political message. As disgusting an act as it is, however, I cannot support efforts to amend the Constitution to ban it. The flag is the symbol of everything about this country that we hold dear - liberty, democracy, equality, and the freedom to express what we believe without fear of government censorship. It has been said that the truest test of our freedom of speech is our tolerance for that speech that we find most objectionable. Burning the American flag sorely tests the limits of that tolerance, but I am not prepared to allow it to push us to the point where we give in to the temptation to prohibit it.

I am well aware of the intensity of feeling about this issue that is felt by those who have served under the flag in the service of our country, and I have not arrived at my position lightly. Please know that I appreciate your thoughts, and I hope that you will continue to let me know how you feel on this and any other issue before Congress.

Sincerely,

Vernon J. Ehlers

Member of Congress

President@whitehouse.gov George Bush, Carl Rove, Tony Snow

I am sure that this has not occurred to you or Carl Rove, but I have an idea for a strategy to get things moving in the RIGHT direction.

The illegal aliens can not pull your huevos out of the fire. They are NOT registered voters, no matter what your latino advisers tell you in Spanish.

Try pandering to the CITIZENS who cast the votes that will save or sink you. If you get down and grovel a little we might forgive your terrible behavior these past few months! We really do not want to punish you again. This will be a tough love situation for you if you force us to take you out behind the woodshed once again.

[side note to Tony Snow: Tony, how the hell did they talk you into joining the crew of an obviously sinking ship. Bush has the means at hand to stop USS Bush from hitting the bottom and save everything by quitting his panderfest to illegal aliens, but YOU.... what could happen is that Bush will use you as a human sacrifice. W's popularity is as low or even slightly less than was "Read My Lips" Bush right at this time in his presidency. Advise George to switch his objects of abject pander to the citizens of the USA from the NON-citizens. If he waits too long, it may not make any difference. Then the people will be in a get-even mood and nothing will save his presidency and legacy. He will be another object of ridicule and scorn like his pop. Then the saying will be "Read My Lips, No Third Bush in the White House!"]

Illegal Immigration

Said Senator Joseph Lieberman to CNN in 2005, "George Bush's plan leaves foreign workers as fodder for our fields and factories, without giving them a path to legalization and a fair share of the American dream."

WRONG! They have the same path to legalization that every other LEGAL immigrant has had since day one... go back and apply for your papers to come here LEGALLY! Then go through the steps to become a citizen LEGALLY!

Howard Dean, Democratic Party Chair, summed it up when he told CNN, "My view is that you've lived here for a significant period of time---whether you're undocumented or documented---and you have contributed to your community, you have never been arrested or gone to jail...you've paid your taxes and worked hard, that you ought to have a path to earn legalization of citizenship."

By Howard's rationalization, if you rob a bank, massacre all witnesses but are never arrested for it, then live an exemplary life afterwards on your ill gotten money, you should be rewarded with a full pardon.

In late 2005, Catholic Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles, wrote a stinging letter of rebuke to President Bush over new, more restrictive Congressional immigration legislation.

I think that Cardinal Mahoney has a full plate in Los Angeles without delving into politics, especially concerning the support of illegals who are breaking the social support networks of this country. If he chooses to use what money is left in the diocese coffers after paying off the legal bills (for homosexual priests and sex abuse claims) to support the illegal Mexican nationals in his own bailiwick... that is his choice and his parishoners.

In late February 2006, Senator Arlen Specter (RINO-PA), a moderate Republican and chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee, presented a detailed 300-page plan to overhaul US immigration laws. The Specter proposal calls for a guest-worker program that would temporarily legalize millions of undocumented workers now living in the US. It also calls for additional new law enforcement and border security measures.

Maybe we could draft these new "guest workers" to be guides at the border for their illegal brethren streaming into the country? Why not issue them a Democrat party membership card along with their new status and allow them a vote? President Bush is racing the Democrats to issue them party membership as junior Republicans! Illegal Immigration? I THINK NOT!!!

Senator Kennedy sounded a positive note about the Specter immigration bill when he stated "I look forward to working with Senator Specter to enact the realistic immigration reforms we need, so that temporary workers can come here safely, and the 11 million illegal workers already here will have a way to earn permanent residence and citizenship.

What we need right now is a large infusion of cash to the INS and border patrol to stop the massive abuse of our laws and border by Mexican nationals. The illegal immigrants DO have a way to earn citizenship... follow the steps that every other LEGAL immigrant has done. Starting as an ILLEGAL immigrant should never be rewarded.

Senator Kennedy said "I'm optimistic that under Senator Specter's leadership, we can enact responsible reforms consistent with our country's ideals and our heritage as a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws."

Senator Teddy "Chappaquidic" Kennedy has little or no respect for "The Law" except as it applies to all the rest of us. He considers himself above it all.

Schwarz vs Walberg - Heavyweight title match...

...for the Michigan 7th district US House of Representatives seat.

  • Tim Walberg is the conservative Republican challenger and ex-Michigan state representative.
  • Joe is pro-abortion and has accepted campaign donations from Planned Parenthood.
  • Tim is Pro-Life and has the endorsement of Right To Life of Michigan.
  • Joe's endorsements - Dick DeVos, John Engler, Mike Troutman, Saul Anuzis, Dennis Hastert, Vern Ehlers, and more...
  • Tim's endorsements - Alan Cropsey, Leon Drolet, Former Representative Clyde LeTarte of Jackson County, Former Representative Margaret O’Connor of Washtenaw County

It looks to be the battle to watch here in Michigan... The heavily endorsed moderate incumbent vs the scrappy Conservative!

National Abortion Rights Action League rates Joe Schwarz at 25%... the only Michigan Republican US Congressman to have a NARAL rating.

A Successful Lincoln Day Dinner meeting...

This past thursday (March 16, 2006) was the date for the most recent Lincoln Day Dinner. This year Ben Sein was the guest speaker as a replacement for Ann Coulter who cancelled because of a mysterious "scheduling conflict" just after this latest UAE Ports flap.

I wish I could have been at the dinner. It looked like a great time was had by all... but I am not a suit-and-tie kind of person. Right now, I do not even own a suit. I think I would have felt uncomfortable there. It would have been a great opportunity to meet a lot of other local Republicans at all levels of local, county, and state government.

Ah well, maybe next year.

Pointing fingers doesn't get state's job done

[From the Detroit News Op-Ed page]

M ichigan has weathered a difficult road the past few years. We are the only state to lose jobs in both 2004 and 2005, and by any objective standard we are at or near the bottom of the barrel in economic growth in this country. As other states are enjoying budget surpluses and robust jobs growth, Michigan continues to lag behind.

Pointing fingers doesn't get state's job done

You are right... finger pointing is a useless exercise, other than to point out who had the power to do something/anything and spent the time elswhere absorbed in partisan warfare. Granholm spends more time hand wringing than actually doing anything. She could take the mill-stone off the neck of Michigans businesses (the SBT) but refuses and she will not even bring out an alternative course of action. She thought that everyone else would just "Help The Girl" and cover her butt. Typical Blond! Debbie Stabenow is in the hand wringing ninny category too. Her big area of usefullness to the Democrats is that she is such a good puppet. She will vote anyway that the party requires. Up to now, our high representation appears to be incompetent and over paid.

Tenn. Senate Backs Anti-Abortion Step (AP)

Sen. David Fowler, R-Signal Mountain, presents his abortion resolution during session, Thursday, March 9, 2006, in Nashville, Tenn. The state Senate on Thursday passed a proposal to amend the Tennessee Constitution so that it doesn't guarantee the right to abortion. Senators voted 24-9 to pass the resolution sponsored by Fowler. (AP Photo/John Russell) >AP - The state Senate on Thursday passed a proposal to amend the Tennessee Constitution so that it doesn't guarantee a woman's right to an abortion.

Tenn. Senate Backs Anti-Abortion Step (AP)

This ought to warm the cockles of Algores cold little heart. He was reportedly somewhat anti-abortion until he came in close proximity to the Clintons. There is something corrupting about close association with those two. When they were in power over the Democrats, the rot spread far and wide. Now you have to look hard to find an old style Democrat. All the rest are New Democrats of the socialist persuasion.

GOP: Dems Cynical Attempt to Dupe Catholics is Absurd

March 03, 2006 03:22 PM EST

by Jim Kouri - Earlier this week, 55 House Democrats released a statement entitled: House Democrats Release Historic Catholic Statement of Principles. This statement is a cynical, pathetic attempt by the Democrats to dupe Catholic voters, who are leaving their party in droves election after election, claim the leadership of the Republican National Committee.

This effort, led by former EMILY'S List Executive Director and now-congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), is absurd, they said.

While the statement says that "we work every day to advance respect for life," over 60% of those Democrats signing this statement voted against the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. The only thing "Historic" about this statement is its unprecendented level of Democratic spin and deceit toward Catholics across the nation.

The GOP notes that 35 Of The 55 Catholic House Democrats that signed the "Catholic Statement Of Principles" have voted against the Partial Birth Abortion Ban.

12 of the 13 women who signed the "Catholic Statement Of Principles" are on Emily's List's website as "Women We Helped Elect." Emily's List is a liberal group that supports unfettered abortion.

I identify the 55 and have some commentary in another note a little later. I will be adding their NARAL ratings.

In a future article I will be identifying the wishy-washy politician bishops who turn a blind eye on the pro abortion activities of "Catholic" legislators who are members of their diocese.

Would you believe that NARAL is a 501(c)3 "CHARITY"? NARAL is the National Abortion Rights Action League. They are militant abortionists.

McCain and Feingold not satisfied with attacking free speech

[From McCain's senate web site] a NEW McCain-Feingold

Apparently McCain and Feingold were not satisfied with attacking our free speech rights after the original McCain-Feingold bill... I wonder if they will want this added to their original master work?

Washington, D.C. - Today Senators Santorum (R-PA), McCain (R-AZ), Lott (R-TN), Kyl (R-AZ), Vitter (R-LA), Lieberman (D-CT), Obama (D-IL), Isakson (R-GA), Dodd (D-CT), Feingold (D-WI) and Collins (R-ME), today issued the following joint statement:

[Notice how they buried their names in there to be less conspicuous, but McCain and Feingold are present! Did ya notice the other RINO listed as an after thought? McCain listed himself between Santorum and Lott. Good strategy, John]

As an ad hoc bipartisan group of Senators supportive of lobbying and ethics reform, we have had productive discussions concerning a broad range of issues. As the committees of jurisdiction prepare to mark up legislation the week of February 27th, we have provided our insights - both in the areas where we agree and in the areas that remain outstanding - to the chairmen and ranking members of the committees involved. We hope these insights will be of assistance. We all support working through the committee process to bring a bill or bills to the floor promptly that will provide meaningful reform and greater accountability to the American people.

Our discussions have been substantive and detailed. Although we do not completely agree on all details, we are all strongly supportive of meaningful reform, and we believe that the following areas, at a minimum, should be included and addressed in any legislative package:

  • the revolving door between private lobbying and public service,
  • privately funded travel,
  • gifts from lobbyists,
  • improved lobbying disclosure,
  • transparency in earmarks,
  • strengthened ethics guidelines, training, and enforcement.

We believe legislation in these areas can only be passed on a bipartisan basis and we are pleased to have these ongoing discussions. We encourage all of our colleagues to devote attention to these important issues in the next few weeks and give the relevant committees the benefit of their expertise and thoughts.

[There are currently laws on the books concerning illegal contributions. This is more grand standing in preparation for elections and nothing more. If there are no laws covering this then why is Abramoff under indictment? If there are no laws, then why is Duke Cunningham going on an extended vacation for 8+ years. Anyone who thinks that the prison that a congressman will go to is the same one you would go to for a similar offense... guess again! I wonder if they get to call in tee times.]

GOP to Hold Seminar on Mastering the Blogosphere

In the 1990s, talk radio was crucial to disseminating the ideas of the Republican revolutionaries. Today, House GOP Conference Vice Chairman Jack Kingston (Ga.) believes that the blogosphere is poised to become the next big thing in the GOP communication machine’s armada.

GOP to Hold Seminar on Mastering the Blogosphere

The one thing that you have to remember, Jack, is that everyone has a radio. Not everyone has access to the 'net at this time. Once truly universal access becomes possible then what you say may be true. Talk radio is still our 1000 pound gorilla as far as trumping the old mass media for getting the REAL story behind the left slanted news out to the public.

Ruling Could Jolt House Races

With the balance of power on Capitol Hill potentially at stake, the Supreme Court today will hear a challenge to the 2003 remap of Texas House districts engineered by Rep. Tom DeLay (R), which resulted in a 12-seat swing in the Republicans’ favor in the 2004 elections.

Ruling Could Jolt House Races

Lets see if having two newly minted conservative SCOTUS judges makes a difference. We know how Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg will come down, and Breyer is far enough left that he will probaby agree with her, but the rest should be on the right side of this.

The McCain "How Can We Fool'em" Machine is working...

Thanks for a heads up from Saul Anuzis. Looks like McCain took lessons from Slick Willie on "How Can We Fool The Public Today". This was the normal daily mode of operation in the Clinton White House and was in use daily there. I am guessing that the voters in South Carolina may be more gullible that most or are they just talking about the inner core party loyalists in S.C.??? I would sy that 2 years is too far out to call a lock for anyone. Who knows. By 2008, McCain could do something to convince me and I could be a McCainiac too!?!? Time will tell. First off we need to go to closed primaries! Eliminate the riffraff and get a little more honest view of where we stand.

'08 Primary Watch: McCain a Lock in S.C.?

The South Carolina presidential primary is nearly two years off, but it is already the dominant topic among the political operatives who call the Palmetto State home.

During my trip to the state last week, The Fix huddled with a number of Republican strategists -- both those already aligned with specific candidates and those currently watching from the sidelines. Out of my conversations came a clear sense that South Carolina Republicans believe their primary is the true test of a presidential candidate's ability to appeal to a broad cross-section of GOP voters, and, as such, will be the most important contest in the 2008 nominating process. (Strategists and politicians repeatedly pointed out that no Republican candidate has won the party's nomination without winning the South Carolina primary.)

My chats with GOP insiders in the state produced a sense of where things stand among the 2008 aspirants. Let's take a look.

Any conversation about the South Carolina GOP race begins with Sen. John McCain (Ariz). Running as the anti-establishment alternative to George W. Bush in 2000, McCain took 42 percent of the primary vote -- a showing that was boosted by Democrats and independents who were permitted to vote for McCain in the state's open primary. Coming off of his upset victory in the New Hampshire primary, McCain's loss to Bush in South Carolina effectively ended his campaign.

Unlike 2000, the 2008 race will likely feature extremely competitive primaries for both parties in South Carolina, making cross-over voting less likely and heightening the importance of winning Republican base voters, something McCain was unable to do in 2000.

Blue Dog Coalition Democrats - UPDATED!

What is a Blue Dog Coalition Democrat? They identify themselves as moderate to conservative Democrats. Is this possible? How is it possible for a Democrat to be "conservative"? What happens when Howard Dean and MoveOn.org issue marching orders to them? Listening to them speak on C-SPAN you would swear that you were listening to some of the "Contract With America" firebrands from 1994. They have at least one speaking point dead wrong.

  • They claim that President Clinton gave us a balanced budget and that Bush blew it. All Clinton did was use projected numbers for 10 years out. He continued spending at a massive rate and and had the most massive tax increase in US history. His balanced budget was based on this tax increase but he had spending that used it all.
  • They claim that there was actually a 69.2 billion SURPLUS in 1998 and they are calling on the country to balance the budget once again.
  • I suggest that we freeze the budget at the current level for 10 years. NO INCREASES OF ANY KIND. It will self balance.
  • Mostly they are pro-abortion.
  • They are in the back pocket of the AFL-CIO.

The Democrats are redefining "conservative" prior to the 2006 elections as part of the Democrat BIG LIE campaign. They are trying to duck the "liberal" label by becoming faux-conservatives.

The list is sorted by state.

Michigan GOP Committeeman Touts McCain's Conservative Credentials

By: Robert B. Bluey

Posted 02/27/06 01:50 AM

Republican National Committeeman Chuck Yob of Michigan says Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) should get more credit from movement conservatives for his views on fiscal and social issues, but Yob isn’t yet prepared to endorse the maverick GOP senator for a presidential run in 2008.

Sounds like Chuck is being a little more cautious now. We are not as enthusiastic for a back stabbing republican-in-name-only like McCain because he has stronger ties to his buddies on the left side of the aisle. Chuck is really a rah-rah cheerleader for McCain and he is in a quandry as to how to get the rest of us on board. McCain is the one who will have to do that. He can start by disassembling McCain-Feingold. He has other Democrat collaborations that are albatrosses around his neck. He is what was called a "Go Along to Get Along" Republican like W's dad, George H.W. Bush. McCain and GHWB both prefer to agree with Democrats especially when it is unfavorable to our side. George the Elder decided that his "No New Taxes" pledge could be safely ignored in favor of giving the Democrats the big boost they needed. McCain is of the same ilk and has done nothing to disabuse the notion. McCain is still associated in everyones mind with the other RINOs who hold the senate as hostage and these hostage takers should be removed in the earliest possible election.

Sorry Chucky... McCain has to show something concrete as a conservative, not pre-election posturing! Right now, Senators McCain and Rodham are both busy trying to move to the right. Will they be opposing each other or be on the same ticket?

Just How Liberal Is Debbie Stabenow?

from "That's Saul Folks!"

Washington, D.C. — Today the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) issued the following statement after a review of Senator Debbie Stabenow’s (D-MI) voting record by the non-partisan National Journal determined that Senator Stabenow is one of the most liberal members of the Senate:

“This report proves what Michiganders already know—that Debbie Stabenow is one of the most liberal Senators in the nation, and does not represent the views of the people of her home state,” said NRSC spokesman, Dan Ronayne. “Debbie Stabenow walks in lock-step with John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and Hillary Clinton, not with Michigan values.”

According to respected political publication National Journal, Debbie Stabenow’s liberal score for 2005 is 86.3, making her the ninth most liberal member of the Senate, outranking nationally known liberals such as New York Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer and on par with Massachusetts Senator John Kerry.

And according to America’s oldest liberal organization, Americans for Democratic Action (ADA), Debbie Stabenow has higher liberal scores than Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, and is just as liberal as Ted Kennedy. [ed: they ARE experts at identifying their own ilk!]

John McCain Rips Hillary Clinton on Ports 'Hysteria'

from NewsMax.com

John McCain Rips Hillary Clinton on Ports 'Hysteria'

Sen. John McCain said Sunday that the reaction to a Dubai-based company's proposed takeover of several U.S. shipping terminals has reached the point of "near-hysteria," singling out Sen. Hillary Clinton for criticism.

"The near-hysteria about this is not warranted, particularly in light of the other major crises that we're facing throughout the world," McCain told ABC's "This Week."

The Arizona Republican criticized Mrs. Clinton for urging that all foreign operation of U.S. ports be banned, warning that if she gets her way, "We've got a lot of disinvestment to do."

"Does that mean the British are not allowed?" McCain posited, before reminding that convicted al Qaeda shoe bomber Richard Reid "was British, as you know."

"I think obviously this has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis," he added, rejecting Mrs. Clinton's blanket ban.

McCain said that the United Arab Emirates, home to Dubai Ports World, is "freer than China," reminding that "700 [U.S.] warships have visited Dubai."

The Arizona Republican said that he agreed with former Iraq war commander, Gen. Tommy Franks, and Joint Chiefs chairman, Gen. Peter Pace, that the U.A.E. is a "vital" ally in the war on terror.

Hillary is in the midst of her massive makeover from a spineless socialist weenie into a super hawk of the FDR/JFK model. The Socialists are beginning to recognize that they have no credibility on defense and that they need to be propped up to give the appearance of strength. This is also playing into McCains hands as he now tries to be the Republican voice of reason where he has been so unreasonable before. He has sounded more like a Democrat than a Republican and has stabbed more than one Republican in the back. This next presidential election could be the lowest turnout in history if it comes down to Rodham against McCain. My suggestion would be to vote but EVERYONE vote for the Libertarian ticket... This would get the attention of both parties. If a few highly placed Libertarians were elected, it might send a shockwave through both of the decadent old complacent parties. Lately the Republicans have seemed positively Democratic with all the pork earmarks that they have attached to other bills, such as the Alaskan "Bridge to Nowhere". The Republicans are only now realizing that an election is about to happen in a few months and they are in danger of being replaced. Trouble is that the alternative (Democrats) are no better, no matter what tune they are humming right now. Actually they may be worse.

In summation:

  • Hillary is a hardcore socialist Democrat who is trying to make everyone believe that she is social and fiscal moderate centrist. She would like everyone to think that she is just that midwestern, conservative, Methodist girl that her legend says she was at one time.
  • McCain is a RINO who is acting like he has suddenly gotten religion and is now a conservative Republican. After all this time cavorting with the toadies of the socialist media as their darling, he is coming to the realization that many states are closing their primaries. This makes the crossover votes from Democrats a bit harder to do, and takes them away from McCain. This is how McCain carried many states during the last presidential primary cycle. McCain is racing Hillary to see who can be to the right of whom. It is similar to watching two NASCAR drivers swapping paint on the track. Rubbing is Racing!

Daisycutter Blog launches Blogs for McCain Opponent

Blogs For McCain's Opponent/TrackBack
Note: This is not to be construed as a Hillary Blog! Follow the link above for supporting information. The resolution there is the same as below...

Founding Resolution of "Blogs For McCain Opponent"

by dcutter[at]gmail[dot]com

In launching this campaign to purge the Moderate Party's leader from Republican politics and the public square, I do hereby declare and find the following to be true:

  • That John McCain has been a constant source of grief for Republicans;
  • That John McCain has heaped far more praise upon Democrats than he has Republicans;
  • That John McCain in fact never has a harsh word for Democrats, and he is chums with Sen. Ted Kennedy, for crying out loud;
  • That John McCain meanwhile has serially violated Ronald Reagan's "11th Commandment": Do not criticize thy fellow Republicans;
  • That John McCain has routinely attacked the Republican base, who financed and put McCain and his moderate friends in office;
  • That John McCain gave cover to Sen. John "sure I'll sign my Form 180, I'll get right on that, honest" Kerry during the presidential election cycle;
  • That John McCain did not immediately rebuff Kerry when he made repeated VP overtures to McCain;
  • That John McCain did not publicly say to Sen. Kerry, "Get away from me, you hideous and odious man.";
  • That John McCain has caused the late, great Ronald Reagan much grief from the other side of the grave by McCain's repeated invocations of the Reagan legacy when McCain's political career resembles nothing of what Pres. Reagan fought for;
  • That John McCain always has an excuse not to cut taxes;
  • That John McCain has been in the Senate for many years, and has only McCain-Feingold to show for it;
  • That McCain-Feingold was a horrible piece of legislation that gave Democrats and their allies a 2-1 funding advantage in the 2004 elections;
  • That John McCain called those who questioned the constitutionality of McCain-Feingold "radical rightwingers";
  • That John McCain has now emboldened the FEC to breathe down bloggers' necks;
  • That John McCain has rejected my compromise to have the FEC shut down/regulate only liberal blogs;
  • That the most dangerous place in Washington to be is the space between John McCain's face and a television camera;
  • That John McCain is in love with the MSM and vice-versa;
  • That John McCain has said negative things about Rush Limbaugh, and these things have been said in public;
  • That John McCain has consistently and publicly challenged our military leaders in the field on their decisions in Iraq;
  • That John McCain has to be wooed, consulted, cajoled and stroked for every single thing that happens in Washington, because dangit ... he should have been the president, not Pres. Bush;
  • That John McCain is loyal to no Republicans and that he and his gang of moderates happily threw Sen. Frist overboard;
  • That John McCain sells out any one who stands in the way of his poltical ambitions;
  • That John McCain and his gang of moderates in the name of "comity" actually sold out the Republican base so that their pet projects and donors -- namely, big business -- could get taken care of;
  • That John McCain still says out loud that the problem in Washington is "money in politics"; and
  • That John McCain and his ilk are the real problem in Washington.

It is therefore resolved that I will start "Blogs for McCain's Opponent", and that all who join will be linked here and will provide a reciprocal link at their site. Further, as I don't know how to generate a code with a blogroll or a cool button, any help in that regard will be appreciated.

Let me conclude by saying that I have made the statement before, and I will make it again. I respect Sen. McCain for his service to the nation. But, as Hugh Hewitt said, McCain is "a great American, a lousy senator, and a terrible Republican."

So resolved. Or should I say ... I am so resolved.

If you wish to join, send me an email at dcutter-at-gmail-dot-com.

Yours in "blogging for" ...

Update: The Swap Blog joins in as the inaugural member ... Who's next? How 'bout a prize? I don't know ... First 10 members get to paddle li'l Lindsay Graham. I mean, it's the next best thing to paddling the lily white one of the McCain-in-Chief. Indeed, Hugh H. is saying that Lindsay is positioning himself to be McCain's VP. So, we need to keep our eye on and paddle in contact with li'l Lindsay. Call that little whiner and gripe at his staff. The McCain-in-Chief does not answer his phones.

Important Note: Please understand ... this is not and will not be a blog alliance advocating Hillary's run for the WH. Some comments I have received thus far indicate a potential misunderstanding in this regard. There are several reasons for this: 1) Unlike Sen. McCain, I will not support a position/candidate simply to defeat a Republican candidate or to make him/her look bad; and 2) there is not enough room on Air Force One (Hillary's broom) if she were to win and want to take all the members of this blog alliance for a spin.

In sum, let's first concentrate on making sure that 1) McCain does not go back to the Senate; 2) does not get the Republican nomination for the WH in '08; and 3) does not run as an independent and "Go Perot" on us ... thus giving us 8 more years of Clinton.

Just so we are clear: I will not be a part of an effort that helps the Demos (unless they look like Zell Miller) in '08. Don't worry ... I've got the keys to the blogroll, and the effort won't undermine conservative advancement. And if that isn't clear enough, let me add the following. I approach elections in a very practical fashion: Who can win? Of those who can win, who will better help the advancement of conservative ideals? I have little patience for theoreticians who make meaningless "statements" on election day. Wishing we had a parliamentary system like the Euros doesn't make it so, any more than wishing will enable you to ride your bike to the moon. If you want to make a statement, go stand on the corner and make a speech. But voting has a specific purpose ... electing some one. That is, ballots are not meant to be thrown in the trash. So, you will not see me participating in such an effort. The idea is to cast more for the best candidate who can win.

Ex-Congressmen Urge Electoral College Reform

Ex-Congressmen Urge Electoral College Reform by NewsMax.com

A group of former congressmen is launching a campaign to reform the Electoral College system, saying presidential election results should rely on the nationwide popular vote rather than on the outcome of a handful of swing states.

The group's plan would seek to eliminate the possibility of a candidate winning the popular vote but losing the election, as happened to Al Gore in 2000.

The Campaign for the National Popular Vote is backed by former Sen. Birch Bayh, D-Ind., former Rep. John Anderson, R-Ill., and other ex-members of Congress.

Remember John Anderson? Didn't he go independent? He was a real RINO before the term was coined. These leftists want to take away one of the things that keeps a tyrany of the majority from overwhelming and marginalizing less populous states. The electoral college is one such institution that gives balance to the process. Otherwise a minority of Blue states could consistantly rule the country in the same way that Democrats elect Democrat governors in certain midwest states. As an example, look at the "Detroit to Saginaw Blue Corridor" in Michigan with a few limited other blue counties around the state. If Michigan went to
